Accepted with preparation
Residential appliances, including washers, dryers, refrigerators, stoves and water heaters, are accepted as bulk items, and residential outdoor appliances such as grills are on the same list.
City cost & eligibility
No charge. Single-family homes and town homes inside Baltimore County boundaries, inside the two scheduled bulk collections a year of up to three items each, or at any of the three drop-off centers within the annual visit allowance.
When & how
Set the appliance out on the bulk collection date assigned to the address, or take it to a drop-off center during opening hours.
Get it ready
An appliance counts as one of the three bulk items. Empty it, keep refrigerant lines intact for the county to handle, and leave liquids, compressed gas tanks, drums, fuel and oil tanks and equipment with fluorescent tubes out of the load entirely, because those are refused.
The county assigns each single-family home and town home two bulk collection dates a year and mails them, so no request is needed. If a collection is cancelled for weather, the make-up is usually the next business day, and the county posts collection status for residents to check.
Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.
