Does Towson pick up couches?
Baltimore County's bulk-pickup program runs out of an office physically inside Towson—111 West Chesapeake Avenue—but it will not haul construction debris off your curb. Drywall, lumber, roofing shingles, tile, and concrete are not on the County's accepted bulk-item list. Bulk is capped at three items per collection, your address gets two scheduled collections a year, and the County only resumed the program in 2022 after nearly 30 years off. For renovation debris itself, you self-haul to a County drop-off center, hire a private C&D hauler, or rent a rolloff dumpster. Dropcurb does not take the drywall either. What we do take, starting at $79 with same-day curbside pickup, is everything else the renovation kicked loose: the old vanity, the cabinet doors bagged up, the swapped-out fridge, the rolled carpet, the dead TV, the bagged household clutter. Curb it. We disappear it. Photo confirmation when it is gone.
City program details: Baltimore County Bureau of Solid Waste Management runs bulk pickup for Towson—two scheduled collections per year per single-family home or townhome, with a maximum of three items per collection and nothing over eight feet long. Dates are pre-assigned by mailer; no call required. Construction and demolition debris—drywall, lumber, roofing shingles, tile, concrete—is not on the accepted bulk-item list, so renovation waste must go to a County drop-off center or a private hauler. The program was resumed in 2022 after nearly 30 years off.
Two County drop-off centers sit inside Towson's commute radius. Central Acceptance Facility on West Warren Road in Cockeysville is about seven miles north, Monday–Saturday 7 a.m.–4 p.m. Eastern Sanitary Landfill on Days Cove Road in White Marsh is about thirteen miles northeast, Monday–Saturday 7:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m., with no admittance after 3:15. Both are free for County residents up to 10 visits per year; after that, materials get billed at $125 per ton. Towson contractors heading to Baltimore City's Quarantine Road Landfill now pay $135 per ton—the City Board of Estimates approved that hike effective November 1, 2025, the first tipping-fee increase since 1993—and concrete, brick, stone, and gravel are not accepted at QRL at all. Meanwhile, the renovation throws off a second pile that does not belong in a dumpster: the furniture you are replacing, the appliance going to the curb, the bagged household clutter from the rooms you are working around. That is the pile we take.

What happens to your couch after pickup
Couches in good condition — no rips, stains, or structural damage — are donated to local charities like Habitat for Humanity ReStore, Goodwill, or Salvation Army. Couches that can't be donated are taken to licensed disposal facilities. Wood frames are sometimes separated for recycling, and metal components (springs, frames) are sent to scrap processors. Fabric and foam that can't be recycled are disposed of responsibly at permitted solid waste facilities.
