Treadmill, walking pad or commercial model?
Household treadmill includes folding home models with a tall console. Choose Walking pad for a compact under-desk model, or Commercial treadmill for a large gym machine. All equipment opens those choices.
An exercise bike, elliptical or rower
Spin, upright, recumbent and air bikes all use Exercise bike, including Peloton and other brands. One elliptical includes its connected base, handles and pedals. Rowing machines and Pilates reformers have their own choices.
Weights, racks and benches
Add together the pounds of loose dumbbells, kettlebells, plates and barbells. Free weights are priced in 10 lb units, rounding the combined weight up. For example, 25 lb uses three units. Add a stand, rack or bench separately if it is going too.

No city, county or operator page names a treadmill, elliptical or weight machine, so the item stays a confirm instruction on the paid self-haul or hauler routes.
City cost & eligibility
Exercise equipment appears on no retained city, county or operator list, so the route and the charge have to be confirmed. A machine can be self-hauled to the disposal center on Woodworth Road, where a piece that qualifies as a bulk item is priced per item, or it can go on a City-approved hauler's route, and the Department of Public Works can be reached at (517) 788-4170 to ask whether the free clean-up day will take it.

Confirm the destination first, then either take the machine to the disposal center at 555 Woodworth Rd during its opening hours or book it with a City-approved hauler.
Get it ready
Strip the console and any loose weights so the frame is lighter, fold the deck where the maker allows it, and keep the machine out of a clean-up day load until staff confirm they can take it.
Jackson does not run a citywide curbside collection. The city's utilities page tells new residents they need to find a trash pickup provider and prints the approved list, and the city's 2022 refuse review said Jackson was alone among its peer cities in not providing garbage service directly or through a single contracted hauler. Weekly trash, curbside recycling and any bulky collection therefore come from whichever approved hauler a household signs with, while the city's own programmes are the autumn loose leaf collection and the spring and fall clean-up days.
