Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

City of Apple Valley licensed trash haulers with Dakota County recycling programs

Use a county drop-off, transfer station or landfill

A household with chemicals, electronics, batteries, bulbs or a large item that its hauler will not take.

Cost & conditions
From $6 for the published Recycling Zone price for a tire 15 inches or smaller, with televisions and monitors at 10.00 each, all other Recycling Zone items free, and transfer station and landfill fees quoted by phone. The Recycling Zone is open to residents of Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey, Scott and Washington counties, and the county asks residents to call each transfer station and landfill for its own fees, hours and accepted items.
Arrange it
Take household chemicals and electronics to the Recycling Zone at 3365 Dodd Road in Eagan, or use a transfer station or landfill from the county list, which includes Dakota Area Transfer at 3358 165th St. E. in Rosemount at 651-204-1453 and Pine Bend Landfill at 2495 117th St. E. in Inver Grove Heights at 651-457-2778.

The Recycling Zone refuses appliances, furniture, mattresses and box springs, exercise equipment, microwaves, water heaters, carpet, wood products or lumber, yard waste and medicines, and the transfer stations and landfills publish no item list or rate, so call before loading.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Apple Valley runs on licensed private haulers rather than a city route, so weekly collection and any one-time large item pickup are arranged with the hauler the household chooses, and the city assigns the collection day by residential hauling zone without setting rates. Drop-off disposal runs through Dakota County: household chemicals, electronics, batteries, bulbs, tires and recyclables go to the Recycling Zone at 3365 Dodd Road in Eagan, food scraps go to the county site at the Apple Valley Central Maintenance Facility at 6442 140th St. W., yard waste goes to a county yard waste site because it may not go in the trash, and large items such as furniture, mattresses, appliances and project debris go to the hauler or to a transfer station or landfill from the county list, which asks residents to call for fees, hours and items accepted. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Apple Valley.

How much does TV removal cost in Apple Valley?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Apple Valley?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Where does an old television or computer go in Apple Valley?

To the Dakota County Recycling Zone at 3365 Dodd Road in Eagan, which takes televisions, monitors, computers, laptops, printers, tablets, phones, game systems and small household electronics and destroys the data on the devices it receives. Televisions and monitors carry a recycling fee each, every other accepted item is free, and the site is open to Dakota County and six other metro county resident groups.Official guidance
