Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Televisions, computers and electronics

Accepted with preparation

The county Recycling Zone takes electronics year round and charges only on televisions and computer monitors, with the shared department's summer event a second option at a higher price for screens.

City cost & eligibility
$10 per television or computer monitor at the county Recycling Zone, where every other accepted item is free and tires are priced separately by size. Residents of Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey, Scott and Washington counties, arriving in a vehicle with the items in the trunk or the very back and a credit card or exact change ready for the screen fee.
When & how
Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday from noon to 8 p.m., Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., closed on the listed county holidays, or at the shared department's summer drop-off event on its published date.
Get it ready
Keep the device intact and dry, remove batteries from small electronics and bring them separately in their own bag or container, and have the load in the trunk so staff can unload it without anyone leaving the vehicle. Personal data on computers and drives is destroyed to a federal standard at the county site.

Two drop-off windows take what a hauler will not

The county Recycling Zone in Eagan takes household chemicals, electronics, small household electronics, scrap metal and tires year round, free except for the charge on televisions, monitors and tires. The shared department's summer drop-off event adds appliances, mattresses, exercise equipment, power equipment and paper shredding for a fee on its published date. Neither one takes furniture, and the county site refuses appliances, mattresses, exercise equipment, wood and yard waste.

How to prepare a drop-off load

At the county site, stay in the vehicle, keep everything except sharps in the trunk or the very back so staff can unload it, label containers and stand them upright in a box you can leave behind, and flatten cardboard to no more than three feet by three feet. At the summer event, remove batteries from electronics, drain fluids from power equipment, and group like material together in the vehicle.

A household in Apple Valley, Burnsville, Eagan or Lakeville with an appliance, a mattress or box spring, exercise equipment, a screen, other electronics, power equipment, scrap metal or confidential documents.

Cost & conditions
The event charges by the piece rather than a single gate fee: one price for each appliance with water softeners priced separately, one price each for power equipment and for exercise equipment, a price by the load for scrap metal, a size based price for a television or monitor, a per piece price for bedding, and a set price for other residential electronics, while laptops, computer towers, phones, tablets and media players are free and shredding is free within a per vehicle limit. All payment forms are accepted. Confirm the current schedule and the next event date with the shared department before holding the load.
Arrange it
Wait for the published event date, load similar material together with all fluids drained and all batteries removed, bring the load to the Burnsville public works yard on 13713 Frontier Ct, and unload it with staff while staying with the vehicle.

The event runs once a year on one published date, is limited to residents of the four member cities, and refuses hazardous waste, batteries, furniture including futons, air mattresses, construction and demolition material, and tires.

City of Burnsville licensed haulers with Dakota Valley Recycling and the Dakota County Recycling Zone

Dakota County Recycling Zone

A metro county household with household chemicals, electronics, small household electronics, scrap metal or tires, and in particular the cheaper route for a television or monitor.

Cost & conditions

Residents of Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey, Scott and Washington counties, arriving in a vehicle with the load in the trunk and a credit card or exact change ready.
Arrange it
Drive to 3365 Dodd Road in Eagan during the Wednesday to Saturday drop-off hours, stay in the vehicle, and let staff unload the trunk or the very back, keeping a sharps container in the front seat.

The site takes no appliances, furniture, mattresses, exercise equipment, microwaves, carpet, wood or yard waste, and the only drop-off days it publishes are the four weekday and Saturday windows plus closures on the listed holidays.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Burnsville starts from a choice rather than a city program: the City licenses private haulers, does not negotiate pricing, and tells a household to shop the licensed list, so the first call is to the hauler you pick. That hauler collects trash and recycling weekly at the curb inside the published window, always includes recycling in the account, and decides on its own what it charges for a large item, which is why this packet treats a couch or a dresser as a hauler conversation. The shared material then moves to two windows that are not the hauler. The Dakota County Recycling Zone in Eagan takes household chemicals, electronics, small household electronics, scrap metal and tires and charges only on screens and tires, and it refuses appliances, furniture, mattresses, exercise equipment, wood and yard waste. The Dakota Valley Recycling summer drop-off event at the Burnsville public works yard adds appliances, mattresses and box springs, exercise equipment, power equipment, other electronics and paper shredding for a per item fee on one published date each year. Between them the two windows still refuse furniture and construction material, so those loads go to a private hauler or the local landfill the City lists, and a piece that is still usable is best offered for reuse or donation first. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Burnsville.

How much does TV removal cost in Burnsville?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Burnsville?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Where do televisions and monitors go?

To the Dakota County Recycling Zone in Eagan, which takes screens year round for a fee while every other accepted item is free, or to the summer drop-off event, where the page itself notes that the county zone is the cheaper place for a screen. Computers, laptops, printers, phones and small electronics are accepted without a screen fee.Official guidance

Who collects the trash in Burnsville?

A private company from the City's licensed hauler list collects it, because Burnsville licenses haulers instead of running one city contract and states that it does not handle pickup or negotiate pricing. Recycling service is always included in the account.Official guidance

How do I find my pickup day?

Ask the hauler you chose, or use the City's neighborhood map to look up the hauler and pickup day for an address. Collection happens between 6:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. on that scheduled day, and recycling rides the same weekly visit.Official guidance

Is the summer drop-off event every year?

Yes, the shared department holds it annually at the Burnsville public works yard for residents of the four member cities, with a per item fee and a published date. The 2026 date has already passed, so confirm the next one before holding appliances, bedding or a machine.Official guidance

When is the Recycling Zone open?

The county site in Eagan publishes four drop-off days: Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday from noon to 8 p.m., Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. It also closes on the listed county holidays, and no other drop-off days are published.Official guidance

What if my item can still be used?

Offer it for reuse or donation first. The county guide is built for looking up where an item can go and tells a reader to call ahead to check the site, and the shared department points residents to reuse before recycling, which matters most for furniture, a newer mattress and a working appliance because the county site refuses all three.Official guidance
