Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

  1. Arrange any unmounting first.

Dropcurb does not remove TVs from walls or do indoor carrying. Arrange the help you need before pickup day, including the trip down interior stairs or through an elevator.

  2. Choose a permitted outdoor spot.

Use a stable, accessible location with a clear path for loading. Keep the TV separate from anything staying. Check building rules before placing it in a shared pickup area.

  3. Show us the TV that is going.

Add a location photo and access notes after booking. Follow the readiness instructions in your confirmation. For exposed broken glass or unusual damage, send a photo and check with us before booking.

Televisions

Special rules apply

Televisions go to a Hennepin County drop-off facility, where they carry a fee that the county does not publish.

City cost & eligibility
Hennepin County accepts televisions including CRT, LCD, projection and plasma screens at its drop-off facilities and charges a fee for them without printing an amount, so call 612-348-3777 for current pricing, and note the limit of five of each item type per household per 12 month period.
When & how
Take the television to a Hennepin County Drop-off Facility, or wait for the city's annual spring Drop-Off Day, because it is illegal to put electronics in the trash.
Get it ready
Keep the television out of the trash, the recycling cart and the city drop-off site, and note that residents are responsible for destroying private data because the county does not guarantee data security.

Use a Hennepin County Drop-off Facility for electronics and hazardous products

A household with electronics, household hazardous products, batteries or unused paint.

Cost & conditions
Household hazardous waste is free at the county drop-off facilities, but the county charges a fee on some electronics such as monitors, laptops and televisions without publishing the amount, so call 612-348-3777 for current pricing on those items.
Arrange it
Take the material to a Hennepin County Drop-off Facility, and note the county limit of five of each electronic item type per household per 12 month period.

Residents are responsible for destroying private data because the county does not guarantee data security, batteries are no longer collected at public locations but are taken at the county drop-off facilities, and paint must be recycled at a paint drop-off while only empty, dried containers may be trashed.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Plymouth does not collect garbage, so a household chooses and pays a licensed hauler for weekly service and the city does not manage the account. What the city does run is curbside recycling through Republic Services every other week on the utility bill, a free Recycling Drop-Off Site at 14900 23rd Avenue North that takes curbside recyclables only and refuses furniture, carpet, bulky items, plastic bags, shredded paper, Styrofoam, trash and paint, a free Yard Waste Site on the same campus for residents of Plymouth, Medicine Lake, Wayzata and Long Lake, and a free 24 hour used oil and antifreeze drop-off. Electronics and household hazardous waste go to Hennepin County Drop-off Facilities, where hazardous waste is free and some electronics carry an unpublished fee, and the city takes electronics itself only at the annual spring Drop-Off Day. Yard and tree waste cannot go in the trash under state law, and mattresses, appliances, furniture and construction material have no published city route, so those loads go through the hauler or a roll-off container. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Plymouth.

How much does TV removal cost in Plymouth?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Plymouth?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

How does Plymouth take a television?

It goes to a Hennepin County Drop-off Facility, because it is illegal to put electronics in the trash and the city accepts electronics itself only at the annual spring Drop-Off Day. Televisions including CRT, LCD, projection and plasma screens carry a county fee that is not published, so call 612-348-3777 for pricing, and expect a limit of five of each item type per household per 12 month period.Official guidance
