The prohibited waste sheet decides what never goes out
The city publishes a prohibited waste sheet, and it removes a long list from the curbside program: household food garbage including empty food packaging and drink containers, electronics such as televisions, computers, monitors, DVD players and VCRs, smoke alarms, microwaves, fluorescent bulbs and ballasts, batteries, any appliance with a compressor containing a refrigerant, tires in any condition, large amounts of newer treated wood, liquids of any kind, paint and containers that ever held a chemical or liquid, contaminated waste, gas bottles and tanks such as propane, and buckets or coolers of any kind because they create voids in the landfill.
