When & how

Keep the pile at least 5 feet from the cart and from any other obstruction. Limbs and tree cuttings have to be no longer than 4 to 5 feet and no more than 12 inches in diameter, and leaves have to be bagged before they go to the curb.
A mattress appears in no city category, so the rubbish truck is the likely route but the item has to be confirmed inside the weekly volume limit.

Under City Ordinance 7-15, in place since June 20, 2023, the city does not collect trees or similar items cut, trimmed or removed as part of non-routine maintenance or by any professional, third party or contractor, and the owner has to remove that material within seven days of the work being finished. Minor renovation debris may still go on the curb, but a larger scale renovation requires a construction dumpster or self removal.
