Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Text us about your setup
  1. Arrange any unmounting first.

Dropcurb does not remove TVs from walls or do indoor carrying. Arrange the help you need before pickup day, including the trip down interior stairs or through an elevator.

  2. Choose a permitted outdoor spot.

Use a stable, accessible location with a clear path for loading. Keep the TV separate from anything staying. Check building rules before placing it in a shared pickup area.

  3. Show us the TV that is going.

Add a location photo and access notes after booking. Follow the readiness instructions in your confirmation. For exposed broken glass or unusual damage, send a photo and check with us before booking.

Televisions and electronics

Special rules apply

Electronics are on the city keep out list for the recycling carts and are not on the bulky item list, so a device has to be confirmed with the city item tools or the county before it moves.

City cost & eligibility
No city or county electronics charge is published on the pages read, so call the Sanitation Division at (828) 259-5857 or Buncombe County at (828) 250-5462 and confirm where the device goes and what it costs.
When & how
Check the AVL Collects waste wizard or the city recycling location map for the device, then call (828) 259-5857 or the county at (828) 250-5462 to confirm the drop off before the trip.
Get it ready
Keep electronics out of both carts and out of the recycling cart, take out any battery you can remove and send it to a Hard 2 Recycle event or a store, and back up or erase personal data before handover.

The handoff matters

Right item.
Right place.

Hazardous material needs the county, not the cart

Paint, paint thinner, motor oil, lead acid batteries, wood preservatives, drain and oven cleaners and pesticides never go in a cart. Buncombe County holds household hazardous waste collection days at the landfill at 85 Panther Branch Road, sharps go free to the county transfer station at 190 Hominy Creek Road, and empty or dried out paint cans can go out with the trash once the paint is dried.

For your Dropcurb pickup

Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.
