Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

  1. Arrange any unmounting first.

Dropcurb does not remove TVs from walls or do indoor carrying. Arrange the help you need before pickup day, including the trip down interior stairs or through an elevator.

  2. Choose a permitted outdoor spot.

Use a stable, accessible location with a clear path for loading. Keep the TV separate from anything staying. Check building rules before placing it in a shared pickup area.

Televisions, computers and electronics

Special rules apply

Televisions, computers and other corded devices are recycled rather than trashed. The Citizen's Convenience Center collects a fee for electronics recycling, Wake County takes them at its multi-material recycling facilities, and a few Wake County convenience centers take electronics on weekends only.

City cost & eligibility
Cary charges for electronics recycling and points readers to the Waste Wizard for the amount, so confirm the fee before loading the car. Wake County does not publish a separate electronics fee for its multi-material facilities.
When & how
Cary's center is open Monday to Saturday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday 1 to 6 p.m. while it is open to these materials. Wake County multi-material facilities run Monday to Saturday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and county convenience centers accept electronics only at sites 1, 4 and 11 on weekends.
Get it ready
Wipe personal data from computers before handover, keep batteries out of the electronics load because Wake County collects them at its household hazardous waste facilities, and bring the item intact rather than dismantled.

The handoff matters

Right item.
Right place.

The convenience center changes on January 1, 2027

Cary says the Citizen's Convenience Center stays open as usual through December 31, 2026, and that from January 1, 2027 only the food and yard waste drop-off remains because the North Carolina Railroad needs the right-of-way. For everything else the town points residents to the Wake County Multi-Material Recycling Facility on Old Smithfield Road in Apex and the Wake County Convenience Center on Aviation Parkway in Morrisville, where county fees may apply, and it confirms that curbside collection is not affected.

Town of Cary Solid Waste and Wake County facilities

Use a Wake County multi-material recycling facility

A household with a refrigerator, freezer, washer, dryer, water heater, air conditioning unit or any corded electronics.

Wake County publishes no separate residential fee for appliances, electronics, antifreeze, motor oil, oil filters or scrap metal at these facilities. Confirm the current terms at the gate or with 919-856-7400.
Arrange it
Drive to the South Wake facility at 6130 Old Smithfield Road in Apex or the North Wake facility at 9029 Deponie Drive in Raleigh, both open Monday to Saturday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., or the East Wake site in Wendell on weekends.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Cary residents have two ways to move bulky material themselves and one date to plan around. The Citizen's Convenience Center at 313 N. Dixon Ave. takes residential bulky items, recyclables, food waste and yard waste, and recycles appliances and electronics for a fee paid on site, but it refuses construction and remodeling debris, paint, motor oil, oil filters, tires, propane tanks, shingles, stumps, treated lumber, pallets, dirt, rocks, concrete and car batteries, and it does not admit commercial or contractor loads, box trucks or enclosed trailers. The town says the center keeps operating as usual through December 31, 2026, and that from January 1, 2027 only the food and yard waste drop-off remains, with Wake County facilities named as the replacement. Those county options are the South Wake Multi-Material Recycling Facility at 6130 Old Smithfield Road in Apex for appliances, electronics, antifreeze, motor oil and oil filters, the Wake County Convenience Center Site 2 at 6120 Old Smithfield Road for up to two mattresses a day, homeowner construction debris with verification and scrap metal, and the South Wake Household Hazardous Waste Facility at 6150 Old Smithfield Road for paint, batteries, solvents and garden chemicals. Curbside carts, yard waste and the special collection request through 311 are not affected by the change. Monday to Saturday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday 1 to 6 p.m., closed on town holidays unless otherwise posted. From January 1, 2027 only the food and yard waste drop-off remains open.

Electronics recycling carries a fee that the town collects on site and does not publish, so confirm the amount before the trip.

Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in cary.

How much does TV removal cost in cary?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in cary?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Where do Cary televisions and computers go?

The Citizen's Convenience Center recycles electronics for a fee, and Wake County takes televisions, computers, monitors, stereos and any corded device at its multi-material recycling facilities in Apex and Raleigh. A few Wake County convenience centers also take electronics, but only on weekends.Official guidance
