City cost & eligibility
The Town charges a fee for a curbside white goods collection, paid in advance after the pickup is scheduled with 311, while the Southern Wake Landfill Convenience Center takes white goods at no charge. The retained Town page does not publish the curbside amount, which is based on the size of the load, so confirm it when the pickup is booked.
When & how
On the day the Town sets when the curbside pickup is scheduled and paid for, or during the county center's daily hours from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Get it ready
Schedule the pickup with the Town and pay before the appliance goes to the curb, and remove the doors from a refrigerator or freezer so the unit is safe. An appliance such as an air conditioner, heater unit, refrigerator, washer or dryer is also accepted at the county convenience centers as part of their appliance coverage.
Wake County convenience centers are open every day from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and the South Wake household hazardous waste facility in Apex is open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The county accepts mattresses and box springs with a two item limit, homeowner construction debris without concrete or pavers, appliances, scrap metal and tires, but a corded electronic device goes only to the sites the county guide names.

Yes, on a limited basis. The landfill prefers licensed haulers with credit accounts, but residents may bring waste and pay by cash, check or credit card up to the published card limit, and every load must originate inside Wake County.
