Filled bags and boxes
Count each trash bag or filled household box. Books and media go by the box. Clothes, bedding and shoes go by the filled bag. Toys packed together have a Box of toys choice. Ask us about unusually heavy or oversized bags and boxes first.
Empty cardboard and containers
Empty cardboard is a different choice: choose single empty boxes or tied bundles of 10 flattened boxes. Compacted bales have their own weight-based choices and require loading-dock access. A Storage bin choice covers the empty bin itself; ask us to confirm the contents if they are going too.
Furniture and other larger items
Add the actual larger item alongside your bags and boxes, such as a sofa, chair or mattress. It has its own price and preparation. Keep construction materials and items needing special handling out of ordinary household bags.

Trash is collected every Friday and recycling every other Friday under the town's contract with Green For Life, and the monthly solid waste fee covers one cart of each.
City cost & eligibility
$24.75 per month for the residential solid waste service, itemized by the town as trash collection, recycling collection, a City of Raleigh billing fee, bulky waste collection and a yard waste fee, covering one 96 gallon trash cart collected weekly and one 96 gallon recycling cart collected every other week. A Town of Zebulon residential account with the town's two carts. Residents are responsible for keeping the carts clean, and a missing or damaged cart is replaced through Public Works.
When & how
Trash every Friday and recycling every other Friday, with the carts at the curb the night before collection. If a holiday affects the hauler's schedule the waste carts are collected on Saturday, and the hauler follows its own holiday schedule and may collect on town observed holidays.
Get it ready
Bag all trash before it goes in the cart because town ordinance prohibits loose trash that flies out when the cart is emptied, keep recyclables loose because bags damage the sorting machinery, keep yard waste, tires, construction debris, automobile fluids, fluorescent bulbs, batteries, lighter fluid and kerosene, paints, lacquers, polishes, pesticides and herbicides out of the trash cart, and keep batteries, electronics, styrofoam, bubble wrap, packing peanuts, pizza boxes, plastic bags, food and shredded paper out of the recycling cart.
Bulk waste runs every Friday except holidays for items too large for the cart, with the pile out on Thursday night and no appointment required.
City cost & eligibility
No charge. Bulk waste collection carries no separate charge because it is part of the town's residential solid waste service, which the town bills at a monthly solid waste fee that itemizes a bulky waste collection component alongside the trash, recycling, billing and yard waste amounts. The service is for items that can be placed in the landfill but are too large for the cart.
When & how
Put the bulk waste at the curb on Thursday night for the Friday collection, which runs every Friday except the holidays circled on the town calendar. No appointment is required, and Public Works will pass a heads up to the driver if the resident calls 919-269-5285.
Get it ready
Keep the load to items the landfill will accept, remove oil and gas from a lawn mower or grill before it goes out, keep cardboard, glass, liquids, electronics, hazardous waste, paint, tires and construction debris out of the pile entirely, and use the Wake County convenience center on Wendell Boulevard for anything that cannot be placed in the landfill.
Trash and recycling carts sit at the curb the night before the collection day, trash is bagged inside the cart while recyclables stay loose because bags damage the sorting machinery, and each residence should have a black or dark gray trash cart and a dark or bright green recycling cart. A missed collection is handled by leaving the cart at the curb and calling Public Works on (919) 269-5285 by Monday at noon, with voicemail answered over the weekend, and a missing or damaged cart is replaced through Public Works.
Bulk waste is collected every Friday except the holidays circled on the town calendar, with the pile at the curb on Thursday night. No appointment is needed, and the town is glad to give the driver a heads up to look for the items if the resident calls 919-269-5285.
The town cannot collect anything that cannot be placed in the landfill, so electronics, batteries, hazardous waste, paint, tires and construction debris stay off the pile and out of both carts. Wake County residents may dispose of or recycle those items at no additional charge at the county convenience center at 5051 Wendell Boulevard, and the county's solid waste management page carries the hours and the accepted material.
Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.

What can go out on Zebulon bulk waste day?+
Bulk waste collection takes items that can go in the landfill but are too large for the trash cart, including large furniture, mattresses, carpet, appliances, lawn mowers and grills, with oil and gas removed. Cardboard, glass, liquids, electronics, hazardous waste, paint, tires and construction debris are all refused and go to the Wake County convenience center instead.Official guidance
Who collects trash in Zebulon?+

What does Zebulon charge for waste collection?+

Bulk waste and yard waste carry no separate invoice because they are inside that fee. The items the town refuses, including electronics, batteries, hazardous waste, paint, tires and construction debris, may be taken by county residents to the Wake County convenience center at no additional charge.Official guidance
What will not be collected in Zebulon?+
The trash cart refuses yard waste, tires, construction debris, automobile fluids, fluorescent light bulbs, batteries, lighter fluid and kerosene, paints, lacquers and polishes, and pesticides or herbicides, while the recycling cart refuses batteries, electronics, styrofoam, bubble wrap, packing peanuts, pizza boxes, plastic bags, food and shredded paper. Bulk waste is limited to items the landfill accepts, so electronics, batteries, hazardous waste, paint, tires and construction debris cannot go out that way either. Yard waste is never bagged and never goes in the trash cart, and leaves belong in their own pile behind the curb.Official guidance
