You have decided what is going. Now give those bags and boxes a pickup day, with a price you can see before anyone arrives.
Book the unwanted bags and boxes left after packing. Choose an available pickup day before you hand back the keys, and arrange to have them outside.
You do not need a whole house of junk. Select the bags, boxes and larger items you actually have. Your combined price is shown online.
When the next collection does not fit your plans, choose a Dropcurb pickup day. Updates keep you informed, and completion photos show when the booked items are gone.

A few simple choices turn a mixed pile into a clear booking. No need to estimate how much of a truck it might fill.
Count each trash bag or filled household box. Books and media go by the box. Clothes, bedding and shoes go by the filled bag. Toys packed together have a Box of toys choice. Ask us about unusually heavy or oversized bags and boxes first.
Empty cardboard is a different choice: choose single empty boxes or tied bundles of 10 flattened boxes. Compacted bales have their own weight-based choices and require loading-dock access. A Storage bin choice covers the empty bin itself; ask us to confirm the contents if they are going too.
Add the actual larger item alongside your bags and boxes, such as a sofa, chair or mattress. It has its own price and preparation. Keep construction materials and items needing special handling out of ordinary household bags.

Furniture does not go in the rollout cart. Cary handles it two ways: the town's own policy names bulky items as a convenience center provision, and a household can book a curbside special collection through 311 where fees may apply.
Mattresses are not on the convenience center's refused list, so they travel as bulky residential material. Wake County also takes mattresses at selected convenience centers, two per day with residency verification, and sends extra mattresses to a shredder at the South Wake Landfill for a processing fee.
Household garbage and recycling ride in town rollout carts and yard waste is collected the same day. Whatever will not fit in the cart goes to the Citizen's Convenience Center at no charge, or a special collection is booked through 311.
The handoff matters
Rollout carts go to the curb no earlier than dusk the night before collection and no later than 7 a.m. on the collection day, with the arrows on the lid pointing toward the street. Keep the cart out of the roadway and clear of light poles, mailboxes and fire hydrants, leave room between the garbage and recycling carts and the yard waste pile, and bring the emptied cart back in before 6 a.m. the next day.
Curbside collectionYard and leaf waste is collected on the same day as garbage and recycling, in paper yard waste bags or in prepared bundles, and anything too small to bundle has to be bagged or placed in a container that comes back to the residence. Nothing may weigh more than 50 pounds, the regular collection limit is about 240 cubic feet per residence per day, and yard waste left in plastic bags is not collected. Loose material and land clearing debris are not part of the curbside service.

There is no extra charge just because the pile is loose. Send a photo first if the count or contents are unclear. A household Dumpster Bag choice does not accept construction debris.
