Confirm with the Department of Public Works on 518-587-3550 extension 2555 whether the attendant will accept a piece at Weibel Avenue and what the sticker or scale cost would be before you load the vehicle.
When & how
Take still usable furniture to a reuse organisation first, or call the Department of Public Works to confirm the transfer station will take the piece on a Tuesday to Saturday between 8:00 am and 3:45 pm.
Get it ready
Empty the drawers and remove cushions and glass tops so the piece can be handled by one person at the station, keep it dry, and take the doors off a cabinet before it is loaded.
Saratoga Springs runs no curbside household refuse route. The transfer station and recycling center at 41 Weibel Avenue is operated by the Department of Public Works and opens Tuesday through Saturday from 8:00 am to 3:45 pm, anyone may use it, and bagged and other non-recycled waste goes into a stationary compactor with an attendant on site. Landfill stickers are sold there for two dollars for a standard garbage bag, and the county uses single-stream recycling, so recyclables arrive loose and unsorted. Compost can also be dropped free at the Saratoga Farmers Market silver bins year round.
