Cardboard goes in the recycling cart on the weekly curbside collection, flattened and never bagged.
The handoff matters
Recyclables go loose in the cart, empty, clean and dry, with cardboard and boxes flattened. Bagged or contaminated recycling is not collected, and plastic bags should go to a grocery store rather than the cart.

Cardboard goes in the recycling cart on the weekly curbside collection. Empty and flatten it so it takes less space, place it loosely in the cart, and never bag it, because bagged or contaminated recycling is not accepted.Official guidance
Plastic bags, hoses, cords, wires, metal hangers, chains and scrap metal, batteries and electronics, clothing, food or liquid, yard waste, Styrofoam and e-waste are all refused. Plastic bags go to a grocery store instead, and the Cuyahoga County Solid Waste District search engine helps with the rest.Official guidance
The City of Cleveland Heights Department of Public Works Refuse and Recycling runs both services, with Tony Torres as the refuse and recycling supervisor on 216-691-7300. Refuse and recycling are collected curbside every week, and bulk items follow the four rotating city routes.Official guidance
