Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

  1. Arrange any unmounting first.

Dropcurb does not remove TVs from walls or do indoor carrying. Arrange the help you need before pickup day, including the trip down interior stairs or through an elevator.

  2. Choose a permitted outdoor spot.

Use a stable, accessible location with a clear path for loading. Keep the TV separate from anything staying. Check building rules before placing it in a shared pickup area.

  3. Show us the TV that is going.

Add a location photo and access notes after booking. Follow the readiness instructions in your confirmation. For exposed broken glass or unusual damage, send a photo and check with us before booking.

Televisions, computers and other electronics

Special rules apply

Televisions are named in the city's bulk list, and the Lorain County Collection Center takes electronic scrap including computers, printers, monitors and televisions. The county's two published lists disagree about large tube sets.

City cost & eligibility
The county publishes no household fee for the Collection Center, so confirm the item and any terms by calling the District on 440-329-5440, which is also the number the county asks you to use to schedule a large load.
When & how
Take the device to the Collection Center at 540 South Abbe Road, open Monday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Wednesday noon to 6 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., or set a television out with the regular collection.
Get it ready
Wipe personal data before a computer or hard drive leaves the house, keep cords and remotes with the device, and measure a tube television before hauling it, because the county flyer lists CRT televisions while the county website excludes sets over 27 inches and console or cabinet sets.

City of Elyria Sanitation Department with the Lorain County Solid Waste Management District

Set bulk items out with your regular collection

An Elyria household with a couch, mattress, appliance, television or other large item that will not fit in the city cart.

Cost & conditions
Bulk items ride the regular collection with no published per-item price, but the city states that additional charges may apply for a large bulk pile, so confirm the pile on 440-322-3895.
Arrange it
Put the prepared items on the curb lawn with the carts, after 5 p.m. the day before collection and before 7 a.m. on collection day.

Anything holding refrigerant is refused until a certified technician discharges the Freon and tags it, mattresses must be wrapped in plastic, and a load of construction or demolition debris is not part of the program.

Use the Lorain County Collection Center

A Lorain County household with electronics, household chemicals, fluorescent bulbs, small tires, paper to shred or extra recyclables.

Cost & conditions
The county publishes no household fee for the Collection Center, so confirm the item and the terms by calling the District on 440-329-5440, the same number it asks large loads to book through.
Arrange it
Take the material to 540 South Abbe Road in Elyria with photo identification, on Monday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Wednesday noon to 6 p.m. or Saturday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Lorain County residents only, dumping is prohibited, and the center refuses appliances other than microwaves, furniture of any kind, mattresses, exercise equipment, construction debris, scrap metal, tools and general refuse.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Self-hauling in Elyria means two places. The Lorain County Collection Center at 540 South Abbe Road takes electronic scrap, household hazardous waste from residences, fluorescent bulbs and ballasts, tires up to a 20-inch rim, paper for shredding and extra recyclables, on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday with photo identification, and the county asks large loads to be booked on 440-329-5440. Everything else that is too big for a cart belongs on the city route: bulk items go out with the regular collection after they are disassembled, stripped of screws and nails, and prepared the way the city asks, with mattresses wrapped in plastic, carpet cut and tied, and no appliance that still holds refrigerant. Construction and demolition debris has no local route, because the city publishes none and the county refuses that material outright. Yard waste goes to the Barnes Materials compost facility at 45 Chestnut Street, which is free for Elyria residents. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Elyria.

How much does TV removal cost in Elyria?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Elyria?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.
