  1. Check what your delivery includes.

If a new mattress is arriving, check whether your retailer is taking the old one. If you need Dropcurb, choose a day when you can have it outside. A delivery window and a pickup day are different arrangements.

  2. Arrange the trip outside.

Plan for doorways, elevators and interior stairs before pickup day. You arrange any indoor carrying. Use a permitted outdoor location and keep entrances and the walking path open.

  3. Make the right mattress easy to find.

Follow the readiness instructions in your confirmation. Add a location photo and clear access notes so your hauler can identify exactly what is going.

Mattresses and box springs

Accepted with preparation

A mattress goes out with the curbside collection inside Lima's three cubic yard bulky allowance, and the hauler asks for notice before it comes. The allowance is part of the city refuse utility rather than a separate bill.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Up to three cubic yards of material may be placed at the curb with the containers at no extra charge as part of the city refuse utility, and material beyond that amount is removed and charged to the resident. The city does not publish a monthly refuse rate on the brochure or the hauler page.
When & how
Call Rumpke at 1-800-828-8171 or use its online service form at least 48 hours before your regular collection day, then put the mattress at the curb with the containers.
Get it ready
Bag all household refuse inside the city containers and keep the bulky piece outside them as part of the three cubic yard allowance. Keep the mattress dry and off the street, and remember that paint, oil, free flowing liquids, tires, rocks and dirt are refused at the curb.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Self haul in Lima means the city transfer station on Metcalf Street or a district program on Shawnee Road. Residents may bring approved material to the Transfer and Recycling Facility at no charge, including three cubic yards every three months of brick, broken concrete, wood, plaster, rock and waste building material and up to four used passenger car tires a year, and they must show a paid utility bill with identification at the station during the published hours. Televisions, computers and other electronics go instead to the North Central Ohio Solid Waste District office at 815 Shawnee Road, Suite D, by appointment during a collection season that runs mid-April to mid-October, with a published per television price and no charge for computers and most other devices. Household chemicals such as gasoline, antifreeze, waste oil, fertilizer, paint and lead acid batteries also go to that office, by appointment through 419-228-8278 and at a published per pound charge. Appliances can be delivered to the scrap metal recycler the district lists on East 4th Street after calling ahead, and the city refuses auto parts, paint, oil, free flowing liquids, rocks and dirt at the curb. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Mattress removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Lima.

How much does mattress removal cost in Lima?

The price depends on the mattress size you choose. A queen mattress is $99 as the first item and $30 as an additional item. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Add any box spring or frame separately, then review your total and any applicable tax before payment.

Can I book same-day mattress pickup in Lima?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates shown at checkout. Have the mattress outside and accessible according to your confirmation. Your booking is for a day rather than an exact arrival time, and we text you when your hauler is on the way.

Is my box spring or bed frame included in mattress removal?

The mattress price covers the mattress only. Add your box spring, bed frame or adjustable base separately if those are going too. Choose the size and type that match each item. The combined price appears before booking.

Will you carry my mattress downstairs or out of my apartment?

Dropcurb starts outside. You arrange to move the mattress out of your apartment and down interior stairs before pickup. We load it and take it away from an accessible outdoor spot. Check your building’s access rules before arranging the move outside.

Can you pick up my old mattress when my new one arrives?

You can choose an offered pickup day around your replacement delivery. First check whether the retailer already includes old-mattress removal, and arrange who will bring it outside if needed. Dropcurb books a pickup day, not the retailer’s delivery window. Contact us before booking if access is limited to a short time.

Does Lima need notice for a mattress pickup?

Yes. The hauler asks for notice by phone or an online service form at least 48 hours before your regular collection when a mattress or other bulky item goes out. The piece then rides with the weekly collection inside the three cubic yard allowance that comes with the city refuse utility.Official guidance

How much bulky material can go to a Lima curb?

Three cubic yards may be placed at the curb with your containers at no extra charge, and material beyond that amount is removed and charged to the resident. Extra bags or a second can are also allowed when the city container is already full.Official guidance
