Get it ready
Keep the mattress out of the green garbage cart, which takes household waste only and cannot be replaced with a bag, box or drum. Count a box spring as a second item if both pieces go out together, and keep the pair under the two hundred pound combined limit.

Trash is collected every Monday in the green cart, and bulk pickup falls on the alternate Fridays marked on the city's 2026 schedule. The bulk request has to reach Waste Pro no later than Thursday at 4 p.m. so the route can be built by address, and a single pickup is capped at four items and a combined weight of two hundred pounds.
Every single-family residence gets a 96 gallon green cart with a blue lid, and it has to be beside the street rather than in it by 7 a.m. on the collection day, with the handles facing the residence and nothing extending above the rim. Paper bags, cardboard boxes, recycle bins and oil drums cannot be used as garbage containers. Used oil, paint, insecticides, chemicals, automotive parts, batteries, tires, medical waste including needles and syringes, and hazardous waste are refused at the cart.
Hold the free household pile for the October cleanup day
The city's Community Clean Up Day runs on Saturday October 10 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., it is free, and residents have to show proof of residency. Yard debris, furniture, electronics, clothing, tires and general trash are the items the city lists, which makes it the cheaper route for a household pile that would otherwise be a paid bulk pickup.
