City cost & eligibility
No appliance charge is published for the city routes, the landfill accepts no freon units, and the 2023 service guide refused white ware items in bulk, so call 419-936-2511 for the city routes or use one of the recycling guide's metal and appliance outlets and confirm the charge with that business.
When & how
Take an appliance without refrigerant to the Clean Toledo Recycling Center at 3900 Creekside Ave, open Tuesday through Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with proof of Toledo residency, or use a scrap metal outlet from the recycling guide such as OmniSource at 419-537-9400, which takes refrigerators that contain freon.
Get it ready
Empty the unit and secure the doors and drum, keep items that hold freon out of the landfill load because that site refuses them, keep paint and chemicals out of every load, and confirm acceptance with the outlet before hauling.
The Hoffman Road Landfill accepts only cash, requires proof of Toledo or Lucas County residency, inspects and measures every load, gives no refunds, does not permit entry from Matzinger or Schwartz Road, expects residents to unload their own vehicles, and refuses yard waste, chemicals, liquid waste, paint, oil, freon items, asbestos, mercury, medical waste, flammable material, propane tanks and hazardous material.

Toledo or Lucas County residents with proof of residency, cash only, with three free disposal days sponsored in 2026 and no free commercial disposal.
Arrange it
Use the Hoffman Road Landfill at 3962 Hoffman Rd, open for residential disposal from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., with free disposal on select days from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., and enter from Hoffman Road rather than Matzinger or Schwartz Road.
Yard waste, chemicals, liquid waste, paint, oil, freon items, asbestos, mercury, medical waste, flammable material, propane tanks, barrels and hazardous material are refused, loads are inspected and measured, there are no refunds, and residents unload their own vehicles.
Toledo households put bagged trash in the gray container weekly and recycling in the blue container every other week, and since January 5, 2026 up to five bulk items under 40 pounds each go to the curb with the regular collection and no scheduling, with mattresses bagged or wrapped and branches, wood and rugs tied in 3 foot by 4 foot bundles. A larger piece or load goes to the Hoffman Road Landfill at 3962 Hoffman Rd, where loads are priced by the cubic yard, only cash is accepted, proof of residency is required and three free disposal days are offered in 2026. Will you disconnect my appliance or carry it out?+
Dropcurb picks up appliances that are already disconnected and accessible outside at ground level. Arrange uninstallation, utility disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Use a qualified professional for gas, hardwired or plumbing connections when needed. We handle loading and haul-away from the outdoor pickup spot.
Can I book if the delivery company did not take my old appliance?+
Yes. Dropcurb pickup is separate from buying or installing a replacement, so you can book removal on its own. Select the old appliance, choose a pickup day and arrange for it to be disconnected and accessible outside. If your new delivery is still ahead, confirm the retailer’s haul-away arrangements before booking a separate pickup.
