When & how
Call before the piece goes out, then place it on the collection date your address is given. The transfer station accepts bulky items on the same weekday and Saturday hours as its other loads.
Get it ready
Keep the piece four feet clear of mailboxes, poles, fences and other obstructions so the loader can reach it. Animal waste, rocks, concrete, tile and dirt are all refused, and bulk collection is subject to availability rather than guaranteed.
Place the cart within one foot of the curb before 7 a.m. on the collection day, with the handles toward the house and the lid opening toward the street. The automated arm needs at least four feet of clearance from mailboxes, other carts, bags, fences, meters, poles and landscaping, and a cart that is not in compliance may be left unemptied.
Trash weekly, recycling every other week, same day
The trash cart is collected once a week and the recycling cart every other week on the same day, but they are separate collections with different trucks and different times, so the recycling may come before or after the trash. Crews may work until dark to finish their routes.
