Get it ready
Leave at least four feet between the mattress and mailboxes, poles and fences, because the bulk crew uses a loader that needs clearance. Hold anything past the scheduled collection for a second appointment or for the drop-off trip.
Place the cart within one foot of the curb before 7 a.m. on the collection day, with the handles toward the house and the lid opening toward the street. The automated arm needs at least four feet of clearance from mailboxes, other carts, bags, fences, meters, poles and landscaping, and a cart that is not in compliance may be left unemptied.
Trash weekly, recycling every other week, same day
The trash cart is collected once a week and the recycling cart every other week on the same day, but they are separate collections with different trucks and different times, so the recycling may come before or after the trash. Crews may work until dark to finish their routes.
