Big Trash pickup for large items

Accepted with preparation

Moore schedules large items as a Big Trash pickup. Each residence gets two free pickups a calendar year, booked with Public Works on 405-793-5070.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Two free Big Trash pickups per calendar year for the person living in the residence, residential customers only. A scheduled pickup that is not cancelled by 5 p.m. on the Friday before the pickup week leaves the residence charged for it.
When & how
Call 405-793-5070 to book the pickup. Items cannot go out before the weekend before the scheduled pickup week, everything must be at the curb by Sunday night of that week, and a city crew collects during the week.
Get it ready
Place the load within 10 feet of the curb, two to three feet from a mailbox, away from tree branches, electrical wires and other overhead obstructions, and never on top of a water or gas meter. Keep tree branches shorter than 10 feet, and keep construction materials, tires, batteries, paints, oils, gases, household chemicals, freon units, shingles, antifreeze, sheetrock, boulders and concrete out of the pile.

Washers, dryers, stoves and other appliances

Special rules apply

An ordinary appliance is a large item for the Big Trash route, while a unit that holds refrigerant is expressly prohibited, so the two cases are separated and the ordinary appliance is confirmed when booked.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Within the two free Big Trash pickups a calendar year for a Moore residence. Confirm the appliance when you book on 405-793-5070, and note that appliances are refused at the Moore Recycling Center.
When & how
Call 405-793-5070 to book the pickup, then put the appliance at the curb no earlier than the weekend before the pickup week and no later than Sunday night of it.
Get it ready
Empty the unit and keep it within 10 feet of the curb and clear of meters and overhead wires. Remove the doors so nothing can be trapped inside, and keep a refrigerator, freezer or air conditioner out of this route entirely because freon units are prohibited.

Refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners

Not on the regular city route

Moore lists freon units as prohibited for both the Big Trash pickup and the landfill, and the recycling center refuses appliances, so a sealed cooling unit has no city route.

City cost & eligibility
The city does not collect a refrigerator, freezer or air conditioner that holds refrigerant. Freon units are on the prohibited list for the Big Trash pickup and for the landfill, and appliances are among the materials the Moore Recycling Center refuses, so a private appliance recycler or a retailer take-back programme has to handle the unit.
When & how
Do not put the unit out for a Big Trash pickup or take it to the recycling center. Arrange it with a private appliance recycler or a retailer that takes back a cooling unit.
Get it ready
Empty and defrost the unit and remove the doors before it leaves the property, and ask the receiving business how the refrigerant is recovered so the unit is not set out for a collection that will refuse it.

Carts out before 7 a.m., pulled back the same day

Household trash must be in a polycart, and bagged trash left beside the curb is not collected. Put the cart out before 7 a.m. on the pickup day, keep it three feet from any obstruction and two feet from another cart, out from under overhead branches or wires, with the lid closed and nothing on top. Bring the cart in by the end of the day, and remember that a trash day falling on New Year's Day, the Fourth of July, Thanksgiving or Christmas moves to the Wednesday of that week.

Book first, and keep the load inside the rules

A Big Trash load cannot go out before the weekend before the scheduled pickup week, and everything has to be at the curb by Sunday night of that week. Keep the pile within 10 feet of the curb, two to three feet from the mailbox, away from tree branches, wires and other overhead obstructions, and never on top of a water or gas meter. Tree branches have to be shorter than 10 feet, and construction materials, tires, batteries, paints, oils, gases, household chemicals, freon units, shingles, antifreeze, sheetrock, boulders and concrete cannot be in the pile at all.

Use the free landfill voucher

A Moore residential utility customer who has used the two Big Trash pickups or would rather haul the load personally.

Cost & conditions
No charge. One free voucher per calendar year for each City of Moore residential utility customer, collected from Customer Service at Moore City Hall, 301 N. Broadway.
Arrange it
Pick the voucher up at Customer Service, then deliver the load to the landfill at 7001 S. Bryant Ave., Oklahoma City, OK 73149. Confirm the receiving hours and any load limits before the trip.

The same prohibited list applies as for the Big Trash pickup, so construction materials, tires, batteries, paints, oils, gases, household chemicals, freon units, shingles, antifreeze, sheetrock, boulders and concrete cannot be delivered on the voucher.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Moore runs one self-haul route and one pickup route. The Moore Recycling Center at 220 N Telephone Rd. keeps its gates open 24 hours a day for self-service and staffs the drive-thru bay Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., taking plastics numbered 1 and 2, aluminium and tin, paper, cardboard and the listed rechargeable batteries. It refuses glass, plastic bags, Styrofoam, plastics 3 through 7, electronics, appliances, tires, yard waste, wood, oil and hazardous waste, so it is not the place for a clean-out. Large household items go instead on a booked Big Trash pickup, two free a year through 405-793-5070, and a load can also go to the landfill at 7001 S. Bryant Ave. on the one free voucher each residential utility customer collects from City Hall. Electronics wait for a city recycling event, household chemicals go to the Oklahoma City collection center on South Portland Avenue, and construction material, freon units and tires have no city route at all. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Appliance removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Moore.

How much does appliance removal cost in Moore?

A full-size household refrigerator is $109 as a single item. A washing machine is $109, and a dryer is $109. Other appliances have their own catalog prices. Choose each item to see your exact total before booking; disposal and recycling costs are included in the item price.

Can I get same-day appliance pickup in Moore?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup, where available. Checkout shows the dates you can choose. Your pickup is scheduled for a day rather than an exact arrival appointment, and we text you before arrival. Have the appliance disconnected and ready outside by your pickup readiness time.

Can you take a washing machine and dryer in one pickup?

Yes. Add one Washing machine and one Dryer so both units are included in the price. They are separate items, even when you bought them as a set. If yours is a single combined unit or the machines still need to be unstacked, contact us before booking to confirm the scope.

Will you disconnect my appliance or carry it out?

Dropcurb picks up appliances that are already disconnected and accessible outside at ground level. Arrange uninstallation, utility disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Use a qualified professional for gas, hardwired or plumbing connections when needed. We handle loading and haul-away from the outdoor pickup spot.

Can I book if the delivery company did not take my old appliance?

Yes. Dropcurb pickup is separate from buying or installing a replacement, so you can book removal on its own. Select the old appliance, choose a pickup day and arrange for it to be disconnected and accessible outside. If your new delivery is still ahead, confirm the retailer’s haul-away arrangements before booking a separate pickup.

How do Moore residents get rid of large items?

Call Public Works at 405-793-5070 and schedule a Big Trash pickup. Each residence gets two free pickups a calendar year, the load goes to the curb by Sunday night of the pickup week and no earlier than the weekend before, and construction material, tires, batteries, paints, oils, gases, household chemicals, freon units, shingles, antifreeze, sheetrock, boulders and concrete are prohibited.Official guidance

Where do Moore appliances go?

An ordinary appliance goes on a booked Big Trash pickup: call 405-793-5070, confirm the unit, and put it out between the weekend before the pickup week and Sunday night of it. Units that hold refrigerant are prohibited on that route, and appliances are refused at the Moore Recycling Center as well.Official guidance

Can Moore take a refrigerator or air conditioner?

No city route covers them. Moore's prohibited list for the Big Trash pickup and for the landfill names freon units, and the Moore Recycling Center refuses appliances, so a refrigerator, freezer or air conditioner has to go to a private appliance recycler or a retailer take-back programme.Official guidance
