Appliance pickup in MooreCity collection Moore lists freon units as prohibited for both the Big Trash pickup and the landfill, and the recycling center refuses appliances, so a sealed cooling unit has no city route. The city does not collect a refrigerator, freezer or air conditioner that holds refrigerant. Freon units are on the prohibited list for the Big Trash pickup and for the landfill, and appliances are among the materials the Moore Recycling Center refuses, so a private appliance recycler or a retailer take-back programme has to handle the unit.

The local disposal guide
Moore handles household trash in city polycarts four days a week and sends the large items down a separate path. Each residence gets two free Big Trash pickups a calendar year, scheduled with Public Works on 405-793-5070, plus one free landfill voucher a year from Customer Service at City Hall. The city publishes a hard prohibited list for that route: construction materials, tires, batteries, paints, oils, gases, household chemicals, freon units, shingles, antifreeze, sheetrock, boulders and concrete. The Moore Recycling Center on Telephone Road takes paper, cardboard, aluminium, tin, plastics numbered 1 and 2 and rechargeable batteries, and refuses glass, electronics, appliances, tires, yard waste and hazardous waste. Electronics travel instead on city recycling events such as the fall event on November 21, 2026, and household chemicals go to the Oklahoma City collection center the city contracts with.

Moore schedules large items as a Big Trash pickup. Each residence gets two free pickups a calendar year, booked with Public Works on 405-793-5070.
A couch or other household furniture is a large item on the Big Trash route. Moore does not publish an item list for that route, only a prohibited list, so the piece is confirmed when the pickup is booked.
A mattress goes on the Big Trash route like other large items. Moore publishes no mattress rule, so the piece is confirmed when the pickup is booked.
An ordinary appliance is a large item for the Big Trash route, while a unit that holds refrigerant is expressly prohibited, so the two cases are separated and the ordinary appliance is confirmed when booked.
Moore lists freon units as prohibited for both the Big Trash pickup and the landfill, and the recycling center refuses appliances, so a sealed cooling unit has no city route.
The recycling center refuses electronics, so screens and computers travel on the city's recycling events, such as the fall event on November 21, 2026, and not on a standing drop-off.
Exercise equipment is not named on any Moore list, so the machine is confirmed against the Big Trash route before it goes out.
Construction material is barred from the polycart, prohibited on the Big Trash pickup and prohibited at the landfill, so Moore publishes no resident route for renovation debris.
Household chemicals cannot go in the cart or a Big Trash pile and are taken to the Oklahoma City household hazardous waste center that Moore contracts with.
The handoff matters
Household trash must be in a polycart, and bagged trash left beside the curb is not collected. Put the cart out before 7 a.m. on the pickup day, keep it three feet from any obstruction and two feet from another cart, out from under overhead branches or wires, with the lid closed and nothing on top. Bring the cart in by the end of the day, and remember that a trash day falling on New Year's Day, the Fourth of July, Thanksgiving or Christmas moves to the Wednesday of that week.
Sanitation rules for polycarts, the Big Trash and landfill voucher routes, and the cart prohibitionsAnnual holiday closings and the sanitation schedule by dateA Big Trash load cannot go out before the weekend before the scheduled pickup week, and everything has to be at the curb by Sunday night of that week. Keep the pile within 10 feet of the curb, two to three feet from the mailbox, away from tree branches, wires and other overhead obstructions, and never on top of a water or gas meter. Tree branches have to be shorter than 10 feet, and construction materials, tires, batteries, paints, oils, gases, household chemicals, freon units, shingles, antifreeze, sheetrock, boulders and concrete cannot be in the pile at all.
