Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

  1. Arrange any unmounting first.

Dropcurb does not remove TVs from walls or do indoor carrying. Arrange the help you need before pickup day, including the trip down interior stairs or through an elevator.

  2. Choose a permitted outdoor spot.

Use a stable, accessible location with a clear path for loading. Keep the TV separate from anything staying. Check building rules before placing it in a shared pickup area.

Televisions, computers and electronics

Accepted with preparation

Oregon E-Cycles pays for the recycling of the devices that matter most here, and the Knott and Negus recycling centers take them free when a household brings seven items or fewer at one time. Larger loads go to Deschutes Recycling by weight.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Free through Oregon E-Cycles for anyone bringing seven or fewer accepted items at one time to the Knott or Negus recycling center. More than seven items, or electronics from a business, are accepted only at Deschutes Recycling at Knott Landfill.
When & how
Use the Knott or Negus recycling center during site hours, seven days a week at Knott from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Monday to Saturday at Negus from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Get it ready
Consider reuse, repair or donation first when the television, computer, monitor or printer still works, and wipe personal data before handover. Devices accepted free include computers and laptops, tablets and e-readers, monitors and televisions in CRT or flat screen form, printers, keyboards, mice, VCRs, DVD players, game consoles, routers, modems, fax machines and peripherals.

Knott is open daily, the transfer stations are not

Knott Landfill Recycling and Transfer Facility on Southeast 27th Street is open to the public seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., which makes it the reliable option for a weekend trip. Negus in Redmond and the Southwest station in La Pine run Monday to Saturday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Northwest station near Sisters runs Wednesday to Saturday, and Alfalfa opens on Saturdays only, so check the day before a long drive.

Hours and locations

Hazardous material stays out of the household load

The rural transfer stations do not accept hazardous waste at all. Residential hazardous material is accepted free at the Knott Landfill Hazardous Waste Facility on Fridays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., covering paints and stains, solvents, fuels, antifreeze, aerosols, cleaners, pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers, batteries, fluorescent tubes and bulbs, propane tanks, pool and spa chemicals, thermometers and mercury thermostats. Lead acid batteries are free at every transfer station, and alkaline dry cell batteries can go in the regular garbage.

Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Bend.

How much does TV removal cost in Bend?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Bend?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Is electronics recycling free in Bend?

Yes for household loads of seven items or fewer through Oregon E-Cycles at the Knott and Negus recycling centers, and that covers televisions, monitors, computers, printers and similar devices. More than seven items at once, or a business load, goes to Deschutes Recycling at Knott Landfill, where other electronics are charged by weight or can be put in the household garbage.Official guidance

Where do batteries go in Deschutes County?

Lead acid batteries are free at the Knott Landfill Recycling Center, the hazardous waste facility and every transfer station, and nickel cadmium or lithium ion batteries from tools, phones, cameras and button cells can be recycled at all county transfer stations. Single-use alkaline dry cell batteries can go in the regular garbage.Official guidance

Should I recycle a working television or computer instead?

The county suggests reuse, repair or donation first when a television, computer, monitor or printer still works. When it does not, Oregon E-Cycles takes those devices free at the Knott and Negus recycling centers for loads of seven items or fewer, and larger loads are charged by weight at Deschutes Recycling.Official guidance
