City cost & eligibility
No charge. Free to residential customers at Metro Central under Oregon E-Cycles, with a limit of seven items a day, and items are accepted intact or broken. The accepted list covers desktop and laptop computers, printers, televisions, monitors, tablets, keyboards and computer mice.
When & how
Metro Central is open to the general public 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily and closed on the Fourth of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's days, and the collection company can also take a television or monitor as a charged bulky item.
Get it ready
Wipe the drive or remove the storage before handing a computer over, take the power cord and any peripherals with the device, and never place electronics in the curbside recycling bin, which refuses electronic devices and cords.

Plastic bags, wires, cords and cables, electronic devices, medical waste, non-empty aerosol containers and other hazardous items, food and liquids stay out of the recycling bin, and household batteries other than alkaline go in a taped zip seal bag placed in the glass bin.

Cost & conditions
The county regulates the rates but publishes no bulky item amounts, so contact the collection company for a cost estimate and to schedule, and expect a flat pickup fee plus a charge for each item.
Arrange it
Use the county Garbage and Recycling Day tool to confirm which company serves the address, call that company, describe every item by category and size, and take the appointment it gives, because the bulky day can differ from the regular collection day.
Prices depend on the category and the number of items, an item that is not on the published list is billed on size and weight plus the pickup fee, and material in good condition should be donated rather than collected.

A coolant appliance is charged a published per appliance amount with a limit of five a day, tires are charged for the first tire and less for each additional one with a fifteen tire daily limit, garbage pays a published minimum for loads up to 240 pounds plus a per ton rate above that, and a transaction fee applies to each load, so check the current rates before leaving.
Arrange it
Drive the load to 6161 NW 61st Ave in Portland, arrive between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., separate the material by type for the right rate, cover any loose load because uncovered loads pay more, and keep hazardous material for the separate facility on the same site.
No vehicles, asbestos-containing material, burned material or wildfire ash, flat or built-up roofing, loads of liquids, petroleum contaminated soil, radioactive metals or electric vehicle batteries. Car beds, foldout sofa beds, futons, crib mattresses, waterbeds and air mattresses are charged as garbage rather than as mattresses.
