Chemicals, batteries and bulbs leave through Metro, not the hauler
Aerosol sprays, art and hobby chemicals, automotive fluids, batteries, fire extinguishers, cleaners and disinfectants, mercury containing items such as fluorescent bulbs and tubes, paints, stains, solvents and thinners, pesticides, pool and spa chemicals, propane tanks, sharps and medicines belong at a household hazardous waste facility. Households can take up to 35 gallons to the Metro facility in Oregon City, which is free for households and open daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Metro also asks for items upright in sturdy boxes in a single layer, in original containers with labels kept.

The county does not publish a single gate rate for a self hauled bulky load at these sites, and it asks residents to call locations ahead to confirm hours and materials accepted. Confirm the accepted material and the charge with the station before loading.

Use the Clackamas County Transfer Station at 19600 SE Canyon Valley Rd in Sandy, open Thursday through Monday with a last load at 4:30 p.m., or the Metro South Transfer Station at 2001 Washington St in Oregon City, open daily. Call 503-260-1577 or 503-234-3000 first, because facilities may close during extreme weather.
Construction, demolition and remodeling debris may need Oregon asbestos testing and documentation before a transfer station will accept it, and suspect asbestos containing material is refused without the paperwork. The county asks residents to confirm hours and materials before travelling.
A Damascus address is served as unincorporated Clackamas County rather than by a city department, and that changes what a household has to do. Bulky items are an on call pickup from the franchised hauler for the fee zone, priced with the county minimum and maximum plus weight and handling, and a unit holding refrigerant also carries the coolant removal charge that applies even when the refrigerant has already been removed.
