The transfer station at 17827 Whitney Lane NE opens daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. except for posted holidays, and its scale publishes the rates for garbage, clean yard waste, appliances and tires.
The county household hazardous waste facility is at the Salem-Keizer Transfer Station, 3250 Deer Park Drive SE in Salem, and opens Thursdays only from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Household material is free for Marion County residents, but it has to arrive in original or resealable containers with good lids, packed in a box, with anything over five gallons or repeated containers of one substance approved ahead of time.
Electronics, container glass, household and vehicle batteries, paint under the PaintCare program, scrap metal that is at least ninety percent metal, mixed paper and cardboard, used motor oil within the per visit limit, and plastic bottles and jugs are all free to drop off. Everything else is billed at the scale.

The facility opens one day a week and is in Salem rather than Woodburn, fifty five gallon drums are refused, and everything has to be in original or resealable containers with good lids, packed in a box to stop it tipping.
Woodburn households that haul their own loads use the North Marion Recycling and Transfer Station at 17827 Whitney Lane NE, open daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. except for county holidays. Garbage and demolition material are billed per ton with a minimum charge, clean yard waste has its own lower rate when the load is nothing else, appliances cost one rate without refrigerant and a higher published rate with it, and tires are priced by rim size.
