Batteries and motor oil have named drop-offs inside the city, and small electronics ride the same county collection events as screens. None of it belongs in the refuse or the recycling bin.
City cost & eligibility
The pages read publish the drop-off locations rather than prices. The county collection charges by weight for electronics and chemicals, the battery and oil outlets set their own terms, and Staples limits free computer-related items to seven per person, so confirm whether a particular drop-off charges before a trip.

Take batteries to The Battery Outlet on Liberty Street, Erie Batteries on Parade Street, Auto Zone on West 26th Street or Lincoln Recycling, and motor oil to Advance Auto Parts, Auto Zone, Liberty Iron & Metal, Lincoln Recycling or Metalico in North East, during their own business hours.
Get it ready
Keep batteries and oil out of the refuse and the recycling bin, keep oil in a sealed container, and check the county electronics rules for anything with a cord. Latex paint is the household exception on the city page: the can is left open to dry out and then goes in the refuse with the empty can placed with the recyclables.
What the recycling cart takes, and what it refuses
Curbside recycling takes newspaper, full sized office paper, flattened cardboard and paperboard, plastic bottles, jugs and jars numbered one and two, and aluminium and metal cans. It refuses glass outside Millcreek and Harborcreek townships, plastic bags, tubs and containers numbered three and higher, foam, glossy or shredded paper and anything with food on it, and glass has its own drop-off bins across the county.
Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.

Arrange it
Register online or by phone, then drive through on the event date at the posted location. The 2026 dates include October 17 at the Summit Township Municipal Garage and November 14 at the Greene Township Building.
Everything is charged by weight, so a heavy load costs more, and pre-registration is required rather than optional. Televisions and monitors cannot go to the free retail computer routes, and the city's own event listing carries 2021 dates, so the county schedule is the current one.
