White goods are excluded from city curbside collection but are accepted at the Florence County drop-off sites, which take large appliances such as refrigerators and washers and dryers.
City cost & eligibility
The city publishes no curbside appliance charge because it does not collect white goods. The county does not publish a per-item rate either, so call Florence County Public Works on 843-665-3022 to confirm.

Get it ready
Remove doors where you can, keep refrigerants intact, and check the site listing before hauling so you use a location that takes large appliances.
Yard waste must stay separate from household garbage, brown goods such as furniture and mattresses, white goods such as refrigerators and washers, tires, building materials, construction debris, recyclables and scrap metal. Mixing it in means the pile is not collected as yard waste.
Commercial building and remodeling contractors, landscapers, tree firms, roofers and clearing contractors may not deposit their debris for city collection, and the city is not responsible for construction, demolition or land-clearing waste originating from private property. Burning solid waste is prohibited.

Florence County operates fifteen residential drop-off sites for county and city residents and does not publish a per-item rate, so call (843) 665-3022 to confirm what your load costs.
Arrange it
Fifteen sites run Monday through Saturday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and closed Sunday. Bring items sorted, and use only the sites that accept your material.
Electronics are accepted at sites 7, 9, 12 and 14 only; farmer oil only at sites 7 and 9; oil and gasoline mixtures only at site 12; and tires are refused at sites 8, 10 and 15. Commercial tires belong at 7205 Don McCain Drive.
Florence routes almost everything that is not garbage, recycling or yard waste to Florence County. Fifteen county drop-off sites run Monday through Saturday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., taking aluminum, large appliances, cardboard, mixed paper, plastics 1 and 2, scrap metal, steel cans, used motor oil and tires at most locations, with electronics limited to four sites and tires refused at three. The city also runs a SCDHEC-permitted mulching facility at 1440 S. McCurdy Road where residents can collect free mulch on weekdays, and city fire stations take residential used motor oil with a five-gallon limit per trip. Can you take a washing machine and dryer in one pickup?+
Yes. Add one Washing machine and one Dryer so both units are included in the price. They are separate items, even when you bought them as a set. If yours is a single combined unit or the machines still need to be unstacked, contact us before booking to confirm the scope.
Will you disconnect my appliance or carry it out?+
Dropcurb picks up appliances that are already disconnected and accessible outside at ground level. Arrange uninstallation, utility disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Can I book if the delivery company did not take my old appliance?+
Yes. Dropcurb pickup is separate from buying or installing a replacement, so you can book removal on its own. Select the old appliance, choose a pickup day and arrange for it to be disconnected and accessible outside. If your new delivery is still ahead, confirm the retailer’s haul-away arrangements before booking a separate pickup.
