Furniture is a named category in the city's bulk collection and has to be placed in its own pile, separate from white goods, yard debris and concrete. Small amounts of construction debris go with the furniture pile rather than mixed into anything else.

When & how
Place the furniture at the kerb no earlier than 48 hours before your scheduled collection day, in its own pile, and keep roll carts positioned with the lids closed and the handles facing the house.
Get it ready
Separate the pile by category, because the city states plainly that mixed piles cannot be collected. Keep building material within the 90 gallon per pickup limit, and keep e-waste, paint, oil, chemicals and pressurised containers out of the load entirely.
Bulk trash has to be placed at the kerb in separate piles by category: white goods and metal, furniture and building material, yard debris, leaves and grass, and concrete. The city states plainly that mixed piles cannot be collected, and a pile set out earlier than 48 hours before the collection day is not part of the regular service.
Carts out before 7 a.m. and back within twelve hours
Roll carts go to the street side before 7 a.m. on the collection day, no more than twelve hours beforehand, and come back in within twelve hours of pickup. Carts are positioned with the lids closed and the handles facing the house.
Logs, limbs, brush and small stumps go in their own pile, limited to pieces no longer than four feet and no larger than six inches in diameter. Leaves and grass clippings go in paper bags only, plastic bags are refused, and that material is collected on the same day as household garbage.

Do I need to wait at home for couch pickup?+
