When & how

Get it ready
Never leave a discarded appliance, refrigerator or other airtight container where a child can reach it unless it is crated, strapped, locked or altered so a child cannot be trapped inside. Empty the unit first and keep liquids out of it, because the city does not collect liquid waste.
City issued roll out containers go to the curb no earlier than noon on the day before collection and come back in by midnight of the collection day. The container has to be in plain view from the street, within three feet of the curb and at least two feet from other containers, mailboxes, utility poles and vehicles, and it must not block the sidewalk.
