When & how
Confirm the item first, then schedule the city pickup with the required notice, or take the machine to a county convenience center as household bulk material if the county accepts it.
Get it ready
Break the machine down to what two people can lift, keep it out of the garbage container, and place it on your own property no less than five feet from the curb if the city confirms the pickup. Drain any oil or fuel if the machine has an engine, as the ordinance requires for lawn equipment.
