A new use for the same space, once the old machine is outside and gone.

Room for what comes next

Your space can have a new purpose.

A home office. Room for a guest. A little more floor to enjoy. When an old machine is in the way, a clear pickup plan makes the next step easier.

The room is changing.

Book the equipment you are ready to let go of, whether it is one exercise bike or several machines. See the total before making the plan.

A replacement is coming.

Check whether your retailer includes removal. If the old treadmill is still your responsibility, give it a pickup day of its own.

It is not making the move.

Settle the price online, arrange to have it outside, and follow the pickup through text updates and completion photos. One less thing to coordinate before the keys change hands.

Match the machine

The right choice covers the right equipment.

Choose by the type of equipment. A brand name does not mean a different item, but a walking pad and a full treadmill do.

Treadmill, walking pad or commercial model?

Household treadmill includes folding home models with a tall console. Choose Walking pad for a compact under-desk model, or Commercial treadmill for a large gym machine. All equipment opens those choices.

An exercise bike, elliptical or rower

Spin, upright, recumbent and air bikes all use Exercise bike, including Peloton and other brands. One elliptical includes its connected base, handles and pedals. Rowing machines and Pilates reformers have their own choices.

Weights, racks and benches

Add together the pounds of loose dumbbells, kettlebells, plates and barbells. Free weights are priced in 10 lb units, rounding the combined weight up. For example, 25 lb uses three units. Add a stand, rack or bench separately if it is going too.

Ready for pickup

Plan the move outside before pickup day.

A machine can be too heavy or awkward for a solo move. Arrange suitable help for indoor carrying, stairs or any dismantling needed to reach the outdoor pickup spot.

A pickup day is not an exact arrival window. Tell us before booking about a shared loading area, restricted outdoor access or equipment whose size or setup you are unsure how to select.

Exercise equipment

Special rules apply

Exercise equipment is not named in any Abilene list, but a treadmill or a weight machine is bulky material and the city collects bulky items on the odd month run or by arrangement, with the standard pickup fitting inside eight feet by four feet by three feet.

City cost & eligibility
The city publishes no rate for an exercise machine, and a pile that does not fit the standard or has to be collected on a scheduled day may be billed at the hourly loading rate for the truck that handles it, so call Solid Waste Services on 325-676-6053 with the machine and its size before it goes to the curb.
When & how
Call 325-676-6053 first, then either put the machine out for the neighborhood's odd month brush and bulky visit or arrange a Wednesday or Friday collection.
Get it ready
Take the machine down as far as it will come apart, keep the weights and parts with it so the pile is honest about its size, and keep the whole load inside the eight foot by four foot by three foot standard and within five feet of the street.

Carts out by 6 a.m. twice a week

Collection runs twice weekly on either Monday and Thursday or Tuesday and Friday, containers go out by 6 a.m. with the handle facing the house, on the curb rather than in the street and no more than five feet back on the property, with five feet of clearance from cars and mailboxes. Trash goes in the container bagged, tree limbs never go in the container, and the containers themselves are city property that stays with the address.

Bulky material waits for the odd month visit

Brush and bulky collection reaches each residence once in the odd months on the neighborhood Monday, and alley customers see the crews about three times a year, so nothing should go out more than 48 hours ahead for curb service or 10 days ahead for alley service. The standard load fits inside eight feet by four feet by three feet, tree limbs are cut to four foot lengths, boxes are broken down, carpet is cut into manageable pieces, and a large appliance goes at the end of the driveway near the curb with a scheduled pickup.

Use the city brush and bulky collection

A household with furniture, bedding, an appliance, a machine, tree limbs or another item too large for the cart.

Cost & conditions
From $48 per hour for the rear loader when a scheduled brush and bulky pickup is billed by the truck that handles it, with the knuckle boom truck at $78 an hour on the same fee schedule. Scheduled collections run on Wednesdays and Fridays and the city says hourly rates may apply based on the truck required, while the regular brush and bulky visit comes once per residence in each odd month on the neighborhood Monday inside the monthly residential service the household already pays.
Arrange it
Put the material out for the odd month neighborhood visit, or call Solid Waste Services on 325-676-6053 to schedule a Wednesday or Friday collection and to ask which truck the load needs.

The standard pile has to fit inside eight feet by four feet by three feet, tree limbs are cut to four foot lengths, hired contractors cannot use the residential collection for their waste, and nothing goes out more than 48 hours ahead of the curb visit or 10 days ahead of an alley visit.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Abilene residents do their own hauling at three city sites. The Citizens Convenience Station at 2149 Sandy Street takes mattresses, couches, furniture, bulky items, televisions and electronics, carpet and fencing from single family households that bring a driver's licence and a current water bill, in loads of about one pickup bed each, and it refuses construction waste, tires and anything hauled from a commercial, multi-family or government property. The same address holds the Abilene Brush Center, which takes leaves and tree limbs free from residents, with limbs cut to six or eight feet and 18 inches or less in diameter, and turns the material into mulch. The Environmental Recycling Center at 2209 Oak Street takes cans, cardboard, scrap metal, appliances including refrigerant units, concrete, glass, paper, plastics and tires for a fee, and runs the household chemical program with an accepted list and a refused list plus a free Re-Store that reissues usable paint and chemicals. Garbage that will not fit the cart goes into a city roll-off container arranged on 325-676-6053, and the two Abilene area landfills north of the city on FM 3034 are privately owned, so a self hauled load there has to be priced with the operator rather than the city. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Exercise equipment removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Abilene.

How much does exercise equipment removal cost in Abilene?

A household treadmill is $159 as the first item and $85 additional. An elliptical is $159 first and $85 additional; an exercise bike is $119 first and $40 additional. Choose all your items to see the combined price. Loading, transportation and disposal are included, with any applicable sales tax shown before payment.

Can you pick up a treadmill or exercise bike today?

Book by 2pm in the pickup address’s local time for same-day pickup. Available dates appear at checkout. Have the equipment outside and accessible according to your confirmation. You receive pickup updates and completion photos; we book a day rather than an exact appointment time.

Will you dismantle my treadmill or carry it out of the basement?

Dropcurb pickup starts outside. Arrange indoor carrying, stairs and any dismantling needed to get your equipment out before pickup. Check the moving instructions for your exact model and arrange suitable help. We load and haul away the equipment from an accessible outdoor spot.

Which option covers a Peloton, spin bike or recumbent bike?

Choose Exercise bike for one stationary bike, including spin, upright, recumbent and air bikes. Peloton and other brands use the same stationary-bike choice. A treadmill, walking pad and outdoor bicycle are different items, so select their matching options.

How do I book free weights, a weight rack or a bench?

Enter the combined weight in pounds for your dumbbells, kettlebells, plates and barbells. Booking rounds that total up to the next 10 lb unit: 25 lb uses three units. Stands, racks and benches are separate items and do not include the loose weights. Add each one that is going.

Will Abilene take a treadmill at the curb?

A treadmill is bulky material rather than cart waste, so it goes out on the brush and bulky collection, either on the odd month neighborhood run or on a scheduled Wednesday or Friday pickup arranged on 325-676-6053. Call first, because a pile outside the standard size may carry the hourly loading rate.Official guidance
