The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.
Flat-screen TVs
Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.
Tube TVs
An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.
TV stands and other electronics
The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Televisions and electronics have one city route and it is the Citizens Convenience Station, which lists TVs and electronics among the bulky items it takes from residents, while the carts and the alley barrels take only household garbage and recyclables.
City cost & eligibility
No charge. The Citizens Convenience Station accepts televisions and electronics from Abilene residents with a driver's licence and a current City of Abilene water bill at no published charge, limited to about one pickup bed sized load a visit, and does not accept loads hauled from commercial, multi-family or government sites.
When & how
Take the device to 2149 Sandy Street from Monday to Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. or on Saturday between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m., and unload it yourself into the container the attendant directs you to.
Get it ready
Wipe the personal information off computers, phones and smart televisions before anything leaves the house, keep cables and remotes with the device, and keep electronics out of the garbage cart, the recycling cart and the alley barrel.
Collection runs twice weekly on either Monday and Thursday or Tuesday and Friday, containers go out by 6 a.m. with the handle facing the house, on the curb rather than in the street and no more than five feet back on the property, with five feet of clearance from cars and mailboxes. Trash goes in the container bagged, tree limbs never go in the container, and the containers themselves are city property that stays with the address.
The Citizens Convenience Station and the Abilene Brush Center both serve Abilene residents only, and both ask for a driver's licence and a current City of Abilene water bill at the gate. The convenience station takes about one pickup bed sized load a visit and the household unloads its own material, while construction waste, tires, commercial loads and loads hauled from multi-family or government property are refused there.
