Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Televisions and electronics

Special rules apply

No Amarillo page in this source set names electronic waste, either as accepted or as refused. The free bulky list ends with other large household items, which may or may not cover a television, so the piece has to be confirmed rather than assumed.

City cost & eligibility
The city publishes no electronics route and no electronics price, so confirm with Solid Waste on 806-378-6813 whether a television or computer qualifies as a large household item for the free curbside pickup or has to go to the landfill. The landfill's own accepted list names household refuse, furniture, mattresses, toys, clothing, fencing and hot tubs but not electronics.
When & how
Call Solid Waste on 806-378-6813 before setting the device out, and ask whether it goes on the free bulky pickup or to the landfill at 16250 Bezner Drive.
Get it ready
Wipe personal data before the device leaves the house, remove stands and cables, and keep the television out of the recycling programme, which takes only used oil, oil filters, tin, aluminum and cardboard at its drop-off sites. Keep bulky material out of the alleyway in every case.

Bulky waste, brush and drop-off routes

Accepted with preparation

Amarillo's bulky route is scheduled rather than calendar based, and it is free. A resident calls Solid Waste or sends the online request, sets the material at the curb, and the truck arrives within one to three business days. The landfill drop-off and the brush sites are the same household's other free options.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Free to Amarillo residents disposing of bulky household items, with pickup inside one to three business days of the scheduled date. Additional fees may apply for construction debris and tires, and the city states that the resident is notified of any applicable charges during scheduling. Landfill drop-off is free to city residents for ordinary household waste, and the brush sites are free with identification.
When & how
Schedule the pickup on 806-378-6813 or through the online curbside collection request form and set the material out before the scheduled date. Brush sites at 3401 Broadway and 3718 S Eastern take landscape material on Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon.
Get it ready
Place bulky material in the grass near the sidewalk or no more than 3 feet from the curb, out of the pedestrian right of way and away from fire hydrants, wires and obstacles, and never in the alleyway. Keep landscape material separate and take it to a brush site, where only organic material is accepted, and keep construction and demolition items out of the free pile because they carry a cost.

The handoff matters

Right item.
Right place.

Schedule first, then place the pile correctly

Amarillo bulky pickup is appointment based. A resident calls Solid Waste on 806-378-6813 or completes the online curbside collection request form, and the material has to be at the curb before the scheduled date, with collection inside one to three business days barring weather or another service delay. Placement matters as much as scheduling: the pile goes in the grass near the sidewalk or no more than 3 feet from the curb, out of the pedestrian right of way, away from fire hydrants, wires and any other obstacle that would stop the truck reaching it, and never in the alleyway, which the city names specifically as the wrong place for bulky household items.

Most of the list is free, and construction is the exception

The free curbside list names tree limbs, large toys, furniture, appliances, metal, fencing, hot tubs, hot water heaters, mattresses and other large household items, and the landfill takes city residents' ordinary household waste at no charge as well. Two things break that pattern. Construction and demolition material is priced rather than free, with sheetrock, insulation, remodeling materials, garage doors, doors, carpet, trim, toilets, bathtubs and cabinets named as items that incur a cost for pickup, and the landfill accepting the same material with a weight-based fee even from residents. Tires are the other exception, since they cannot go in regular household waste and may be taken at the landfill with a fee subject to capacity.

Three free drop-off routes run alongside the pickup

Behind the curbside service, Amarillo runs three other free routes for the material it separates out. Landscape waste goes to the brush sites at 3401 Broadway and 3718 S Eastern, open Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon, where only organic material such as brush, tree limbs, trunks, trimmings, grass, leaves and cacti is accepted and identification or a utility bill is required at the gate. Used oil, oil filters, tin and aluminum go to the Central Recycling Drop Off Center at SE 27th and Hayes, to 208 E Hastings behind Fire Station number 4, or to 6th and Western next to the water tower. Cardboard goes to the five KB Recycling sites at Medical Center Park on Streit Drive, the Downtown Library on SE 4th Street and the Southwest, East and North branch libraries. Household chemicals go by appointment to the Environmental Laboratory at 4001 S. Osage, scheduled on 806-342-1557.

City of Amarillo Solid Waste Department

Schedule the free curbside bulky pickup

A household with furniture, a mattress, an appliance, metal, fencing, a hot tub, a hot water heater, large toys or tree limbs.

Cost & conditions
No charge. Free to Amarillo residents disposing of bulky household items, collected within one to three business days of the scheduled date. Additional fees may apply for construction debris and tires, and the city states that the resident is notified of any applicable charges during scheduling.
Arrange it
Call Solid Waste on 806-378-6813 or complete the online curbside collection request form, then place the items at the curb before the scheduled date, in the grass near the sidewalk or no more than 3 feet from the curb.

Construction and demolition items such as sheetrock, insulation, garage doors, doors, carpet, trim, toilets, bathtubs and cabinets do not qualify for the free pickup and carry a cost, tires may carry a fee, and material left in the alleyway is not the right placement. The city asks residents to keep the pile clear of fire hydrants, wires and obstacles.

City of Amarillo Solid Waste Department

Haul the load to the Amarillo Landfill

A city household with a load that will not wait for a scheduled pickup, or with construction and demolition material that carries a fee.

Cost & conditions
Landfill use is free to Amarillo residents for normal household waste, while construction and demolition material carries a weight-based fee even for residents and non-residents, businesses and landlords pay by weight for everything. The city publishes no rate figure on the pages retained here, so confirm the load and the current weight charge with the landfill on 806-359-2056.
Arrange it
Drive to 16250 Bezner Drive in Amarillo, open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with the last load accepted at the scale house at 4:30 p.m. The landfill can close on short notice for weather, and the status line is 806-359-2056.

A refrigerant appliance needs the Freon removed and the removal certified to the gate house, tires cannot go in regular household waste and may be taken only with a fee subject to capacity, and construction and demolition material is priced. The city states that sheetrock, shingles, wood, rock, dirt, brick, concrete, carpet, insulation, garage doors, PVC pipe, vinyl siding, decking, storage building demolition and trim are the fee materials.

City of Amarillo Solid Waste Department

Drop landscape waste at a free brush site

A household with brush, tree limbs, trunks, trimmings, grass, leaves or cacti that would otherwise go in the bulky pile.

Cost & conditions
No charge. Free to Amarillo residents, with identification or a current utility bill required at the gate.
Arrange it
The brush sites are at 3401 Broadway, west of the Ross Rogers Golf Course between NW 24th and Hastings, and at 3718 S Eastern, two blocks south of SE 34th and Eastern. Both are open Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon.

Only organic material is accepted, so brush, tree limbs, trunks, trimmings, grass, leaves and cacti qualify and garbage does not. The material is reused for composting and landscaping, which is why the city asks residents to keep other waste out of the pile and away from the dumpsters.

Open the Amarillo brush sites page

City of Amarillo Solid Waste Department

Use a free recycling drop-off point

A household with used oil, oil filters, tin, aluminum or cardboard to divert from the landfill.

Cost & conditions
No charge. The city provides the drop-off locations free and arranges for private vendors to collect the material, with no resident fee published.
Arrange it
Oil, oil filters, tin and aluminum go to the Central Recycling Drop Off Center at SE 27th and Hayes, to 208 E Hastings behind Fire Station number 4, or to 6th and Western next to the water tower. Cardboard goes to the KB Recycling sites at Medical Center Park on Streit Drive, the Downtown Library on SE 4th Street, and the Southwest, East and North branch libraries.

The programme is narrow. It takes used oil, oil filters, tin, aluminum and cardboard only, and it is not a route for appliances, furniture, mattresses, televisions or construction material, all of which belong with the bulky pickup, the landfill or a confirmation call to Solid Waste.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Self haul in Amarillo is optional rather than necessary, because the curbside bulky pickup is free and covers furniture, mattresses, appliances, metal, fencing, hot tubs, hot water heaters, large toys and tree limbs. When a household does drive, the Amarillo Landfill at 16250 Bezner Drive takes ordinary household waste free from city residents between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, with the last load at the scale house at 4:30 p.m., and charges construction and demolition material by weight even for residents. Landscape material has its own free destination at the brush sites on Broadway and South Eastern, open Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon, where only organic material is accepted. Used oil, oil filters, tin and aluminum go to three free drop-off points, cardboard goes to five library and park sites, and household chemicals go by appointment to the Environmental Laboratory at 4001 S. Osage. A refrigerator has to have its Freon removed and certified before the landfill will take it. City landfill taking household waste free and construction material by weight

Amarillo Landfill

16250 Bezner Dr, Amarillo, TX 79124

Normal household refuse including paper, plastic, cardboard and kitchen waste, toys, clothing, furniture, hot tubs, fencing, mattresses, tires subject to capacity, conditionally accepted appliances such as refrigerators and freezers, and organic material including brush, tree limbs, trunks, trimmings, grass, leaves and cacti.

A refrigerator or freezer needs the Freon removed and the removal certified to the gate house, tires cannot go in regular household waste and may be taken only with a fee, and construction, remodeling and demolition material including sheetrock, shingles, wood, rock, dirt, brick, concrete, carpet, insulation, garage doors, PVC pipe, vinyl siding, decking, storage building demolition and trim is priced. Non-residents, businesses and landlords pay by weight for everything.

Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the last load accepted at the scale house at 4:30 p.m. The landfill can close on short notice for weather, and the status line is 806-359-2056.

No charge. Amarillo residents pay nothing for normal household waste. Construction and demolition material carries a weight-based fee even for residents, and non-residents, businesses, landlords and any non-residential trash are charged by weight, so a fee question belongs with the scale house on 806-359-2056.

Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Amarillo.

How much does TV removal cost in Amarillo?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Amarillo?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Where do televisions and computers go in Amarillo?

No city page names electronic waste, so call Solid Waste on 806-378-6813 first. The free curbside bulky list covers furniture, appliances, metal, fencing, hot tubs, hot water heaters, mattresses, large toys, tree limbs and other large household items, and the landfill list names household refuse, furniture, mattresses, toys, clothing, fencing and hot tubs, so the answer for a television depends on how the city treats the device. The recycling drop-off sites take only used oil, oil filters, tin, aluminum and cardboard.Official guidance

Who handles disposal in Amarillo?

The City of Amarillo Solid Waste Department handles non-hazardous waste pickup, transportation, compaction and daily cover, and it runs the curbside bulky pickup, the Amarillo Landfill, the brush sites and the recycling drop-off points. Solid Waste is on 806-378-6813, the landfill on 806-359-2056, and the environmental laboratory that takes household hazardous waste by appointment is on 806-342-1557.Official guidance
