Appliance pickup in AmarilloCity collection A refrigerant unit is the appliance group with a written condition. The landfill accepts refrigerators and freezers under state requirements only when the Freon has been removed and the certificate handed to the gate house, and the curbside list carries no separate refrigerant instruction. The city publishes no refrigerant removal price, because a certified technician has to do the work before the unit can be disposed of. The bulky pickup itself is free to residents, and the landfill is free for city residents' household waste, so the cost question is the removal rather than the disposal. The local disposal guide
Amarillo runs its own solid waste department, and the shape of it matters more than any single rule: a resident schedules a curbside bulky pickup by phone or online, the pickup is free, and the truck comes within one to three business days. Furniture, mattresses, appliances, metal, fencing, hot tubs, hot water heaters, large toys and tree limbs are all named on that free list, and the same household can also drop the material at the Amarillo Landfill for nothing as long as it is ordinary household waste. The one stream that carries a cost is construction and demolition material, which is charged both at the curb and at the landfill. Alongside that, the city runs free brush sites for landscape waste, free drop-off points for oil, oil filters, tin, aluminum and cardboard, and a household hazardous waste programme that takes consumer products by appointment.

Appliances are named on the free curbside bulky list, and the landfill takes them conditionally with the refrigerant rules the state requires. A washing machine, dryer, stove or water heater therefore leaves on a scheduled pickup at no charge.

No Amarillo page in this source set names electronic waste, either as accepted or as refused. The free bulky list ends with other large household items, which may or may not cover a television, so the piece has to be confirmed rather than assumed.
Construction and demolition material is the one household stream Amarillo charges for. The bulky page states that items such as sheetrock, insulation, doors, carpet, trim, toilets, bathtubs and cabinets carry a cost for pickup, and the landfill accepts the same material with a weight-based fee even from residents.
Exercise equipment is named on no Amarillo list. A treadmill or weight machine is a large household item in ordinary speech, which the free bulky list ends on, but the category is unnamed so the piece stays a confirmation.

The handoff matters
Amarillo bulky pickup is appointment based. A resident calls Solid Waste on 806-378-6813 or completes the online curbside collection request form, and the material has to be at the curb before the scheduled date, with collection inside one to three business days barring weather or another service delay. Placement matters as much as scheduling: the pile goes in the grass near the sidewalk or no more than 3 feet from the curb, out of the pedestrian right of way, away from fire hydrants, wires and any other obstacle that would stop the truck reaching it, and never in the alleyway, which the city names specifically as the wrong place for bulky household items.
Bulky item pickup page with the free curbside service, the phone and online scheduling, the one to three business day pickup window, the free item list covering furniture, mattresses, appliances, metal, fencing, hot tubs, hot water heaters and tree limbs, the placement rules, the construction and tire fee exception and the landfill drop-off termsThe free curbside list names tree limbs, large toys, furniture, appliances, metal, fencing, hot tubs, hot water heaters, mattresses and other large household items, and the landfill takes city residents' ordinary household waste at no charge as well. Two things break that pattern. Construction and demolition material is priced rather than free, with sheetrock, insulation, remodeling materials, garage doors, doors, carpet, trim, toilets, bathtubs and cabinets named as items that incur a cost for pickup, and the landfill accepting the same material with a weight-based fee even from residents. Tires are the other exception, since they cannot go in regular household waste and may be taken at the landfill with a fee subject to capacity.
