  1. Check what your delivery includes.

If a new mattress is arriving, check whether your retailer is taking the old one. If you need Dropcurb, choose a day when you can have it outside. A delivery window and a pickup day are different arrangements.

  2. Arrange the trip outside.

Plan for doorways, elevators and interior stairs before pickup day. You arrange any indoor carrying. Use a permitted outdoor location and keep entrances and the walking path open.

  3. Make the right mattress easy to find.

Follow the readiness instructions in your confirmation. Add a location photo and clear access notes so your hauler can identify exactly what is going.

Mattresses

Special rules apply

A mattress is not named in the brush and bulky rules, which describe large items including furniture, appliances and large tree branches, so it should be confirmed before it goes into the pile.

City cost & eligibility
The city publishes no mattress charge and does not name mattresses in the bulky list, so call the Public Works Call Center at 979-209-5900 and confirm that the piece will be collected on your bulky day before it goes out.
When & how
Call the Public Works Call Center at 979-209-5900 first, then set the mattress in the bulky pile by 7 a.m. on your brush and bulky day, or by 6 a.m. from June through August.
Get it ready
Keep the mattress in the bulky pile rather than the brush pile, at least 5 feet from fixed objects and clear of the street, sidewalk and right-of-way, and keep it out of the 22 cubic yard allowance with the rest of the load.

City of Bryan Solid Waste Department with the Brazos Valley Solid Waste Management Agency

Use the weekly brush and bulky day

A Bryan household with a couch, appliance, mattress that has been confirmed, or yard brush to clear.

Cost & conditions
No charge. Brush and bulky collection is part of the residential solid waste service on the Bryan Texas Utilities account, with a published allowance of 22 cubic yards or one truck load for each residence each week and an extra charge only for material beyond it.
Arrange it
Set the piles out by 7 a.m. on your bulky day, or 6 a.m. from June through August, with bulky waste and brush separated and everything five feet clear of fixed objects.

The route refuses household chemicals, food waste, garbage, construction and demolition material, concrete, brick and rock, and a cooling appliance needs the chlorofluorocarbon charge settled or a pre-certification before collection.

City of Bryan Solid Waste Department with the Brazos Valley Solid Waste Management Agency

Haul the load to the Twin Oaks Landfill

A household with an appliance, a computer or monitor, or a load over the weekly bulky allowance that it would rather drive than spread across weeks.

Cost & conditions
From $3 per ton of municipal solid waste at the gate, with a minimum charge for a small load. The published standard tipping fee is 32 dollars per ton with a 3 dollar minimum, and extra special fees apply: 5 dollars for a tire up to 24.5 inches, 20 dollars for a larger tire, and 11 dollars per freon unit in addition to the tipping fee, with a 30 dollar charge possible for an unsecured load.
Arrange it
Cover and secure the load before arriving, drive it to the landfill during business hours, and tell the scale attendant about any special item such as a freon unit or tires.

The gate is a charged route rather than a free drop-off, loads have to be secured or they draw an extra fee, and special waste needs prior approval from the agency before it can be accepted.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Bryan's curb takes more than most cities and then stops: chemicals, project debris and anything past 22 cubic yards a week have to leave another way. Household chemicals and a long list of electronics go to the free Brazos Valley household hazardous waste events at the Twin Oaks Landfill each April and October, and the landfill itself accepts appliances, electronics, tires and general loads at published gate rates with a separate fee for a freon unit. Closer to home, the city's own Used Oil and Tire Recycling Center at 1111 Waco Street takes residential used oil, filters, cooking grease and up to eight tires a visit free for residents, and curbside recycling in Bryan comes from permitted private vendors rather than the city. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Mattress removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Bryan.

How much does mattress removal cost in Bryan?

The price depends on the mattress size you choose. A queen mattress is $99 as the first item and $30 as an additional item. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Add any box spring or frame separately, then review your total and any applicable tax before payment.

Can I book same-day mattress pickup in Bryan?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates shown at checkout. Have the mattress outside and accessible according to your confirmation. Your booking is for a day rather than an exact arrival time, and we text you when your hauler is on the way.

Is my box spring or bed frame included in mattress removal?

The mattress price covers the mattress only. Add your box spring, bed frame or adjustable base separately if those are going too. Choose the size and type that match each item. The combined price appears before booking.

Will you carry my mattress downstairs or out of my apartment?

Dropcurb starts outside. You arrange to move the mattress out of your apartment and down interior stairs before pickup. We load it and take it away from an accessible outdoor spot. Check your building’s access rules before arranging the move outside.

Can you pick up my old mattress when my new one arrives?

You can choose an offered pickup day around your replacement delivery. First check whether the retailer already includes old-mattress removal, and arrange who will bring it outside if needed. Dropcurb books a pickup day, not the retailer’s delivery window. Contact us before booking if access is limited to a short time.

Will Bryan take a mattress on the bulky route?

Mattresses are not named in the brush and bulky rules, which describe large items including furniture, appliances and large tree branches. Call the Public Works Call Center at 979-209-5900 to confirm that a mattress will be collected on your bulky day, then put it in the bulky pile by 7 a.m., or 6 a.m. during June through August, keeping it 5 feet clear of fixed objects.Official guidance
