City cost & eligibility
No charge. Regular kitchen appliances are collected as bulk items within the residential solid waste service with no separate fee published, and an appliance that held refrigerant is only collected when it carries a sticker showing the freon was removed by an appliance repair person.

Put the prepared appliance out with the weekly bulk allowance on the second collection day, or during the zone collection week for a larger pile.
Get it ready
For a refrigerator, freezer, air conditioner or other unit that held refrigerant, have an appliance repair person remove the freon first and keep the sticker on the unit, because an appliance without that sticker is on the refusal list. Empty the unit and keep it in the bulk pile rather than the carts.
Three cubic yards or less goes out on the second collection day of the week, and anything larger waits for the zone collection week each month, which follows the first, second, third or fourth Monday of the month depending on the address. The pile goes at the curb the Sunday before the scheduled week and the crews collect Monday through Friday of that week, with brush and yard waste separated from the bulk items.
