The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.
Flat-screen TVs
Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.
Tube TVs
An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.
TV stands and other electronics
The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Televisions and other corded devices are taken at the community collection events, while the transfer station and the household hazardous waste events both refuse electronics.

When & how
Hold the device for one of the two community collection events the city runs each year, which the bulky page confirms take electronics alongside tires, furniture and mattresses. Electronics are refused at the transfer station and at the hazardous waste events.
Get it ready
Wipe personal data before the device leaves the house, and keep it out of the trash and recycling carts. Computer components can also go to Goodwill in Georgetown, which the city names for resale or recycling, and the events destroy data before breaking components down.
The community collection events take mattresses and box springs, furniture in good condition, paper for shredding with a limit of three containers, tires with a limit of four per car, corded electronics, metal only lawn equipment and metal appliances. Hazardous waste, medical material, batteries, light bulbs, refrigerators, oxygen tanks and construction debris are turned away.
Household hazardous waste events run four times a year and need registration by 5 p.m. on the Friday before, an identification matching an active utility account, and a vehicle that can be unloaded from the boot or back seat while the driver stays inside. No trailers are allowed and items must be in marked original containers.
Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.

Watch for the city's event announcement, register if required, and bring the load to the Georgetown Municipal Complex on Industrial Avenue during the published hours. Limits apply, including four tires per car and three paper containers for shredding.
The event takes only the listed material, so hazardous waste, medical material, batteries, light bulbs, refrigerators, oxygen tanks, construction debris and broken furniture are turned away. Refrigerators are refused even though other metal appliances are accepted.

Does my old TV have to work?+
Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.
Where do televisions and computers go in Georgetown?+
