Filled bags and boxes
Count each trash bag or filled household box. Books and media go by the box. Clothes, bedding and shoes go by the filled bag. Toys packed together have a Box of toys choice. Ask us about unusually heavy or oversized bags and boxes first.
Empty cardboard and containers
Empty cardboard is a different choice: choose single empty boxes or tied bundles of 10 flattened boxes. Compacted bales have their own weight-based choices and require loading-dock access. A Storage bin choice covers the empty bin itself; ask us to confirm the contents if they are going too.
Furniture and other larger items
Add the actual larger item alongside your bags and boxes, such as a sofa, chair or mattress. It has its own price and preparation. Keep construction materials and items needing special handling out of ordinary household bags.

Bulky household objects go out with the regular garbage on the normal pick-up day. The city names furniture among the accepted bulky items, and each piece must stay under 50 pounds.
City cost & eligibility
No charge. Bulky items placed out with the regular garbage are collected as part of the contracted residential service at no separate charge, as long as each item stays under 50 pounds.
When & how
Bulky items ride the household's regular collection day rather than a separate route, which for Hurst means either Monday and Thursday or Tuesday and Friday depending on which side of State Highway 183 the address sits.
Get it ready
Set the item at the curb with the regular trash inside the normal timing window. Keep each bulky piece under 50 pounds, and tape any glass so it does not break in the truck. Anything heavier than 50 pounds needs a special pick-up instead.
Bedsprings are named by the city as a bulky item, so a mattress or bedspring goes out with the regular garbage rather than a separate appointment.
City cost & eligibility
No charge. A mattress or bedspring under 50 pounds is collected with the regular contracted residential service at no separate charge.
When & how
Collected on the household's normal garbage day.
Get it ready
Set the mattress or bedspring at the curb with the regular trash and keep the piece under 50 pounds. If the item is heavier than that, arrange a special pick-up instead of leaving it out.
The contract takes household appliances including washers, dryers, hot water heaters, dishwashers and stoves. A refrigerator or freezer is only taken with a certification report showing that a certified technician removed the CFCs.
City cost & eligibility
Washers, dryers, hot water heaters, dishwashers and stoves are part of the regular contracted service under the Take All provision. Refrigerators and freezers require a certification report that a certified technician removed the CFCs, and a heavy appliance over 50 pounds needs a special pick-up with an additional charge that Republic Services quotes by quantity.
When & how
Appliances travel on the household's normal collection day when they fit the regular bulky limits.
Get it ready
Set the appliance at the curb with the regular trash and keep it under 50 pounds, or arrange a special pick-up if it is heavier. For a refrigerator or freezer, get the CFC removal certification report from a certified technician first, because the unit cannot be collected without it. Confirm the current requirement with Republic Services at 817-332-7301 before the collection day.
Televisions are listed among the bulky items that can go out with the regular garbage, so an old set does not need a separate appointment as long as it stays under the weight limit.
City cost & eligibility
No charge. A television set out as a bulky item under 50 pounds is collected with the regular contracted residential service at no separate charge.
When & how
Collected on the household's normal garbage day.
Get it ready
Set the television at the curb with the regular trash and keep it under 50 pounds. Tape the glass face before it goes out so it does not break in the truck. Televisions cannot go in the recycling bin.
The contract's Take All provision covers construction and fencing material the homeowner generates from repair and remodeling work, provided panel and picket material is cut and bundled as required.
City cost & eligibility
Homeowner generated construction and fencing material is included under the Take All provision when it meets the cut, bundle, weight and volume limits. A load beyond those limits needs a special pick-up whose additional charge Republic Services quotes based on the quantity of material.
When & how
Collected with the regular service when it is prepared to the published limits. Material beyond the normal route limits needs a special pick-up.
Get it ready
Cut stockade type fence panels into 4 by 6 sections or smaller, and tie and bundle loose pickets or slats. Keep every item under 50 pounds and within 64 cubic feet, because the normal route will not take brush or trash occupying more than that. Contractor material is not part of the regular brush route.
Everything goes to the curb on the house side and not in the gutter by 7:00 a.m. Republic Services has until 7:00 p.m. to arrive before a pick-up counts as missed. Nothing may be set out more than twelve hours before the collection day, and closed waterproof containers and metal cans should come back off the curb by 7:00 p.m. once collection is done.
Each bulky item cannot exceed 50 pounds, and the combined weight of garbage and its container is capped at the same figure. Brush bundles follow the same limit. Anything heavier than 50 pounds needs a special pick-up arranged through Republic Services rather than a regular set-out.
Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.
City of Hurst contract sanitation service, collected by Republic Services
Republic Services special pick-up
The route for a bulky item over 50 pounds, loose brush, or a pile larger than the normal 64 cubic foot limit.
Cost & conditions
The city guidelines state that a special pick-up carries an additional charge that depends on the quantity of material to be removed. Republic Services quotes the amount when you call.
Arrange it
Call Republic Services at 817-332-7301 and request a special pick-up, describing the material and how much of it there is.
Intended for material outside the normal route limits: single items over 50 pounds, loose brush, or a pile exceeding 64 cubic feet.
Hurst residents have two real alternatives to the regular cart route. Every residential water customer inside the city limits has to use the contracted service, so anything over the normal limits becomes a special pick-up arranged with Republic Services at 817-332-7301. Separately, the city contract gives residents free access to the Arlington Landfill on the second Saturday of each month from February through November, 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., which is the route for loose brush, fencing, scrap metal and electronic equipment that would not clear the curb rules, provided the resident brings photo identification and a current Hurst water bill. Hazardous material is not part of that landfill access and goes instead to the Fort Worth Environmental Collection Center, which takes it free from residents who show a Hurst address on a driver's license or a current water bill. A refrigerator or freezer still needs a certification report showing that a certified technician removed the CFCs before it can be collected at all. Sanitation Service GuidelinesTrash and Recycling

Can you pick up bags of junk today?+

Do I count every object inside a bag or box?+
No. Count the filled bags or boxes using the matching choice. Books and media go in Filled household box; clothes, bedding and shoes go in Bag of clothes & bedding; packed toys have a Box of toys choice. Empty cardboard is separate, with individual empty boxes and bundles of 10 flattened boxes. Heavy, oversized or unusual contents need a photo review before booking.
Can you pick up a small loose pile of household junk?+
Yes. Estimate how many trash bags the small household pile would fill, and bag or box as much as possible. Select furniture and other larger items separately. There is no extra charge just because the pile is loose. Send a photo first if the count or contents are unclear. A household Dumpster Bag choice does not accept construction debris.
Can I book bags, boxes and furniture together?+
Yes. Select the bags and boxes, then add each larger item using its own catalog choice. The booking shows one combined price for the selected items. Move everything to an accessible outdoor spot before pickup; indoor carrying and sorting are not included. Keep anything you want to retain apart from the booked items and identify what goes in your photos and notes.
