No charge. City of Katy residential accounts paying the monthly garbage rate, within the weekly allowance of up to three bulky items; a volume beyond the normal allowance becomes a quoted pay pile.
When & how
Set the mattress next to the garbage cart on the household's collection day, out by 7 AM, or hold it for the quarterly super heavy trash pickup on the first collection day of March, June, September or December.

Keep the mattress dry and out of the garbage cart, take the frame and headboard off because they are separate pieces, and keep it clear of the cart so the crew can lift it.
One weekly collection, three routes and a written allowance
Katy residential collection runs once a week on a route colour: blue for Monday, red for Tuesday and yellow for Wednesday, with small commercial accounts served Tuesday and Friday and recycling and heavy trash for those accounts on Tuesday. Household waste goes in the cart near the kerb by 7 AM, recycling goes in loose and clean, and the household allowance covers up to three bulky items a week plus yard debris of 15 bags not over 35 pounds each and branch bundles under 40 pounds cut to 4 foot lengths, capped at 4 cubic yards a service day. The hauler observes New Year's Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day, collecting on the next day when a service falls on one of them.
Four times a year the city adds a super heavy trash collection on the first collection day of March, June, September and December, and it takes bulky items, bags and bundles in a volume that cannot exceed 6 cubic yards, which the city compares to about six washing machines. That is the window for a cleanout that will not fit inside the weekly three item allowance, and anything larger than the published allowance, or a pile of debris rather than household items, is a pay pile the hauler quotes before collection.

Cost & conditions
$16.85 per month for the residential garbage, recycling, heavy trash and yard debris service under the rate effective September 1 2025, with extra carts at $2.09 per cart per month and small commercial accounts at $25.70 per month. Residential accounts inside the city limits of Katy, which are billed for the service through the city utility account; a Katy mailing address alone does not put an address inside the city, so the city asks prospective customers to check the residency map before applying.
Arrange it
Find the route colour and collection day for the address, put carts and bulky items out by 7 AM, and request extra carts or a smaller 65 gallon cart by email to the hauler, which delivers within a week and adds the charge to the water bill.
The service covers household waste, single stream recycling, up to three bulky items a week and yard debris inside the 15 bag and 4 cubic yard limits. Excluded material such as dirt, concrete, tires, batteries, pallets and construction debris is refused, and volumes beyond the allowance are quoted as a pay pile.
