When & how
Have the refrigerant removed first, then set the appliance out by 7 a.m. on the recycling service day. The recycling center takes appliances Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with large appliances at the rear of the facility.
Get it ready
Arrange the Freon removal with a licensed technician, who is the one who makes the unit eligible for curbside collection. At the recycling center, remove refrigerator and freezer doors before arrival, keep guests in the vehicle, and separate small appliances for the drive-thru area and large appliances for the rear drop-off.
Garbage and recycling go at the curb between 5 p.m. the day before collection and 7 a.m. on the collection day. The hauler asks for 4 feet of clearance from mailboxes, cars and other carts, with the lid opening facing the street.
Bulky waste and green waste are collected together once a week on the recycling service day, and the two share one allowance of two cubic yards, which the hauler describes as roughly six feet by three feet by three feet. Anything above that needs a supervisor service call and an estimate.

Most items are free to recycle, and several charges depend on the item and on residency. Televisions and other electronics are free for City of Pearland utility customers and Brazoria County residents with identification, hazardous waste is exempt from the published per pound rate for those same residents, and items such as alkaline batteries, automotive fluids, fire extinguishers, fluorescent tubes and non drained refrigerated appliances carry published fees.
