Scrap metal

Special rules apply

Scrap metal is listed as not recyclable in the blue cart, and the City's lists do not name a separate scrap metal drop-off, so the route has to be confirmed.

City cost & eligibility
Neither the City pages nor the county rate sheet name loose scrap metal as a separate material. Call the transfer station at (801) 388-1442 or the county operator to confirm whether a scrap metal item can be dropped off and what it costs.
When & how
Confirm the route with the transfer station before loading, because scrap metal cannot go in the recycling cart or in a Dial-A-Dumpster container.
Get it ready
Keep scrap metal out of the blue recycling cart, which the City lists scrap metal among the materials it does not accept.

Right item.

Keep the carts within the rules

If a cart is filled so the lid will not close, the City can swap it for a larger one or deliver an extra cart, with charges and terms applied. Putting unapproved or prohibited materials in a cart can lead to the carts being removed and service being ended in whole or in part.

Show Ogden residency for the resident rate

At the transfer station the City names, tell staff you are an Ogden City resident and show a valid ID proving Ogden residency at the window before dropping materials off, or you may be charged the regular rates instead of the resident rate.

Self haul to the transfer station

Residents with furniture, mattresses, appliances, tires, electronics or a mixed load to unload in one trip.

Cost & conditions
Ogden City publishes a minimum charge for 800 pounds or less at the transfer station it names, and Weber County publishes a separate minimum fee and per item rates. Confirm the current amount with the gate you plan to use.
Arrange it
Load the material, drive to the transfer station, and show a valid ID proving Ogden residency at the window before unloading so the resident rate applies where it is available.

Charges apply above the minimum weight, cardboard and glass are the only free residential materials the City names, and the discounted minimum fee at the Weber County site does not extend to Ogden City addresses.

Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Scrap metal removal, from your photo request to the pickup plan in Ogden.

How do I request a scrap metal pickup quote?

Text photos to (844) 879-0892 with your ZIP code, approximate amount and access details. Show the whole pile and a closer view of the material. Our team will confirm the scope, quote and scheduling.

Do you buy scrap metal or pick it up for free?

This is a request for a paid removal quote, not a scrap-buying or free-collection offer. If you want to sell metal, ask a local recycler about its accepted materials and delivery requirements.

This service uses a custom quote. Send photos, the approximate amount, your ZIP code and access details. Our team confirms the scope and price before booking; there is no fixed-price catalog item for this pile.

Can you collect it today?

Tell our team your preferred day when you request the quote. Timing depends on the material, amount and access, and is confirmed with your quote. Sending photos does not reserve same-day pickup.

Is scrap metal recyclable at the curb in Ogden?

No. Ogden City lists scrap material including tires, scrap metal, metal hangers and auto parts among the items that are not accepted in the blue recycling cart.Official guidance

Ogden City publishes a minimum charge for 800 pounds or less at the transfer station it names, with residential cardboard and glass accepted free, and proof of Ogden residency is needed at the window for the resident discount.
