Filled bags and boxes

Empty cardboard and containers
Empty cardboard is a different choice: choose single empty boxes or tied bundles of 10 flattened boxes. Compacted bales have their own weight-based choices and require loading-dock access. A Storage bin choice covers the empty bin itself; ask us to confirm the contents if they are going too.
Furniture and other larger items
Add the actual larger item alongside your bags and boxes, such as a sofa, chair or mattress. It has its own price and preparation. Keep construction materials and items needing special handling out of ordinary household bags.

The City provides the green garbage container, bills the service monthly on the utility account, and contracts Ace Disposal to run the weekly route.
City cost & eligibility
$13 per month for the first city garbage container. Tooele City residential accounts with city garbage service. A second container carries its own monthly fee at the lower rate the City publishes, a new or replacement container is sold by the City at the price on the fee table, and an additional container is provided on a first come, first served basis with a four month minimum.
When & how
Once a week on the address's pickup day, with the container at the curb by seven in the morning, and it comes back off the street as soon as it has been emptied. Garbage is not collected on New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, the Fourth of July, the Twenty Fourth of July, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving or Christmas, and in those weeks service is delayed one day starting with the holiday.
Get it ready
Only garbage inside the City container is collected, so keep extra bags off the curb, because nothing outside the container is picked up on a normal day or on bulky waste day. Put the container at the edge of the street next to the driveway and opposite the mailbox, keep it clear of driveways and roadways, and set it with the wheels close to the curb or the edge of the road, the lid hinge to the curbside and the lid opening facing the street. Do not fill it so full that the lid will not stay shut or that the contents could spill while it is being dumped, and keep it free of markings, because the container belongs to the City even though the household is responsible for its care and cleaning.
Cardboard, paper, bottles and jugs and food and beverage cans go in the recycling container, while plastic film and any foam stay out.
City cost & eligibility
No charge. Recycling is part of the city garbage service rather than a separate charge, and the published pickup calendar comes from the contracted operator.
When & how
On the address's recycling day according to the operator's published calendar, with questions on the route going to Ace Disposal.
Get it ready
Recycle cardboard boxes, office paper, junk mail and magazines, plastic bottles and jugs, and food and beverage cans, and keep the material clean because food waste makes cardboard and paper break down faster. Remove cardboard and newspaper from any plastic film and put the film in the garbage. Keep plastic bags, wraps and films out of the recycling container, and keep foam of any kind out as well, including egg cartons and packaging foam. Wet or soggy cardboard and paper are refused, so do not set recycling out in the rain or put yard waste in the container.
One day a month the regular route takes bulky waste at no extra cost, on a Thursday assigned by the household's normal pickup day.
City cost & eligibility
No charge. The City states the bulky waste program is provided at no additional cost to Tooele City residents, with two extra spring cleanup days in May.
When & how
One day each month in conjunction with the normal pickup day: a Monday route gets the first Thursday of the month, a Tuesday route the second Thursday, a Wednesday route the third Thursday, and a Thursday or Friday route the fourth Thursday. The City also runs extra spring cleanup bulky days in May, and the service runs year round except in inclement weather. Put the material at the curb the day before the pickup day, and there is no need to call to schedule it.
Get it ready
Bag, bundle or box everything, because the operator loads the bulky waste by hand and improperly prepared material is left behind. Boxes have to be thirty gallons or smaller and should not be set out in wet weather, bundles of limbs have to be under eighteen inches in diameter, under five feet long and under seventy five pounds, and no bag, bundle or box may weigh more than seventy five pounds. Do not put out anything marked free or please take, do not lean items against a fence or mailbox, and do not park a vehicle in front of the pile. The service is meant for a cleanup once or twice a year, so a household that regularly overflows the container needs a second one instead.
Appliances, furniture and carpet, including couches, are collected at the curb on bulky waste day at no extra cost.
City cost & eligibility
No charge. Furniture is covered by the bulky waste program, which the City provides at no additional cost to residents.
When & how
Put the piece at the curb the day before the household's monthly bulky waste day, on the Thursday assigned to the route.
Get it ready
Get the piece to the curb where the operator can reach it by hand, and keep it clear of fences, mailboxes and parked vehicles. A garage or basement cleanup box of worn out items goes out the same way, and the piece has to be small enough to lift by hand or broken down so it is.
A mattress is named in the bulky waste list along with couches and carpet, so bedding goes out on bulky waste day.
City cost & eligibility
No charge. A mattress is covered by the bulky waste program, which the City provides at no additional cost to residents.
When & how
Set the mattress at the curb the day before the household's monthly bulky waste day.
Get it ready
Get the set to the curb where the operator can lift it by hand and keep it clear of fences, mailboxes and parked vehicles, because the operator uses hand loading and will refuse anything improperly placed. Keep it dry.
Old appliances are collected on bulky waste day, and a unit that still holds refrigerant needs the refrigerant removed and a label placed on it before it goes out.
City cost & eligibility
No charge. Appliances are covered by the bulky waste program, which the City provides at no additional cost to residents. A unit with refrigerant has to have the refrigerant removed and then labeled before the operator will take it.
When & how
Set the appliance at the curb the day before the household's monthly bulky waste day, after the refrigerant work is done on a cooling unit.
Get it ready
Have the refrigerant removed from a refrigerator, freezer or air conditioner and place a label on the unit showing that the refrigerant was removed, because the City states that items with freon must be handled that way. Get the unit to the curb where the operator can lift it by hand and keep it clear of fences, mailboxes and parked vehicles.
Yard trimmings go out with the bulky waste day when the container is full, as long as they are bagged, bundled or boxed, and grass clippings stay out.
City cost & eligibility
From $7 per load of green waste at the Tooele County Solid Waste Disposal Facility when the material will not wait for bulky waste day. Tooele City residents. The bulky waste route itself carries no extra charge, and the county facility charge is the route for green waste between pickup days.
When & how
Set the material out on the household's monthly bulky waste day, the day before pickup, or take it to the county facility between pickup days.
Get it ready
Everything except a limb larger than four inches in diameter has to be bagged, bundled or boxed, because loose piles of yard trimmings and limbs are not picked up. Bundles have to be under five feet long and under seventy five pounds, and a limb bundle has to be under eighteen inches in diameter. Keep grass clippings out of the bulky pile, because the City asks households to compost them, mulch them with a mower or put them in the container on top of other garbage instead. A household that regularly has too much yard waste for the container is told to request a second one.
No city page read here publishes a household electronics route, so a television or computer has to be confirmed rather than assumed.
City cost & eligibility
The City publishes no electronics program or rate on the pages read and the bulky waste list does not name electronics, so call Tooele City utilities on 435.843.2150 or the operator on 435.882.7009 and confirm where a television, monitor or computer should go before it is set out.
When & how
Confirm the route first, because an unconfirmed device may be left at the curb on bulky waste day.
Get it ready
Wipe personal data from anything that stores it, keep the device out of the container so the lid can shut, and do not put it out with the bulky pile until the City or the operator has confirmed that the item will be taken.
Construction and demolition waste is not accepted on bulky waste day, and a project load has to go to the county disposal facility.
City cost & eligibility
The City refuses construction and demolition waste on bulky waste day and directs the load to the Tooele County Solid Waste Disposal Facility, which sets its own rates, so call the county facility on 435.843.4785 and confirm the charge before hauling the material.
When & how
Arrange the county facility trip before the work starts, because the material will not be collected at the curb on bulky waste day.
Get it ready
Keep construction and demolition material, brick, broken concrete and dirt out of the bulky pile and out of the container, because the City refuses all of it on the curb. Break down a full pallet and bundle it to the correct size if it is going out as bulky waste, because an unbroken pallet is not accepted.
Only food and beverage cans go in the recycling container, and the City sends any other metal item to a scrap metal recycler.
City cost & eligibility
The City publishes no scrap metal collection or rate and states that only beverage and food cans belong in the recycling container, with all other metal going to a local scrap metal recycler, so confirm the price with the recycler that takes the load.
When & how
Put beverage and food cans in the recycling container on the recycling day, and take a larger metal item to a scrap metal recycler when the load is ready.
Get it ready
Rinse cans and put them in the recycling container loose, because bagged recyclables are not sorted and end up at the landfill, and keep metal items that are not food or beverage cans out of the container. Ask the receiving recycler about the condition and preparation it expects before loading.
Paints, oils, solvents, batteries, old car parts and fertilizers are refused on bulky waste day, and the City gives a separate information line for them.
City cost & eligibility
The City refuses household hazardous waste in the collection and publishes no rate, pointing residents to a separate information line instead, so call 435.277.2300 and confirm where the material goes and what it costs.
When & how
Call the hazardous waste information line before setting anything out, because the material is not collected on the weekly route or on bulky waste day.
Get it ready
Keep paints, oil, solvents, bug spray, weed killer, batteries, old car parts and fertilizers out of the container and off the bulky pile, because the City classifies them as household hazardous waste and refuses them. Keep each product in its original labeled container until the receiving program explains how to hand it in.
Put the green City container at the edge of the street next to the driveway and opposite the mailbox, clear of driveways and roadways, with the wheels close to the curb and the lid opening facing the street. It has to be out by seven in the morning on the pickup day, the lid has to stay shut and nothing goes beside it, because only garbage inside the container is collected. Bring it back off the street as soon as it has been emptied.
Bag it, bundle it or box it before bulky waste day
Bulky waste runs once a month on the Thursday assigned to your normal pickup day, following the first, second, third or fourth Thursday pattern, and it costs nothing extra. The operator loads by hand, so everything has to be bagged, bundled or boxed, boxes have to be thirty gallons or smaller and stay out of wet weather, limb bundles have to be under eighteen inches in diameter and under five feet long, and nothing may weigh more than seventy five pounds. Do not set out anything marked free or please take, do not lean items against a fence or mailbox, and move any parked car away from the pile.
The City adds extra bulky waste days in May for spring cleanup on top of the regular monthly schedule, and the published dates follow the same route pattern as the rest of the year. Use them for the annual garage, basement or garden clear out, and keep the same preparation rules, because the extra day does not change how the material has to be bundled, bagged or boxed.
Construction and demolition waste, business waste, tires, piles of brick, broken concrete and dirt are all refused at the curb, and the City points those loads to the Tooele County Solid Waste Disposal Facility on 435.843.4785, which takes green waste for a per load charge between pickup days. Household hazardous waste such as paint, oil, solvents, batteries, old car parts and fertilizers is refused too, and the separate information line for it is 435.277.2300.
Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.

City of Tooele utilities with Ace Disposal as the contracted garbage and bulky waste operator
Take the refused load to the county facility
A household with construction or demolition material, tires, brick, broken concrete, dirt or green waste between pickup days.
Cost & conditions
The county facility sets its own rates and the City publishes only the green waste charge, so call 435.843.4785 and confirm the price for the load before hauling it. The City states the green waste load is charged a fixed amount.
Arrange it
Call the facility on 435.843.4785 for the current terms and hours, then haul the load there rather than leaving it at the curb.
The facility is a county operation rather than a city service, so it sets its own accepted material and rates, and the City only publishes the green waste charge and the referral for the refused loads.
City of Tooele utilities with Ace Disposal as the contracted garbage and bulky waste operator
Call the hazardous waste information line
A household with paint, oil, solvents, bug spray, weed killer, batteries, old car parts or fertilizers.
Cost & conditions
The City publishes no rate for household hazardous waste and gives a separate information line, so call 435.277.2300 and confirm where the material is collected and what it costs.
Arrange it
Call the line before setting anything out, and keep the products in their original labeled containers until the receiving program explains how to hand them in.
The material is refused on the weekly route and on bulky waste day, so it cannot be set at the curb under any preparation.
A household with plastic grocery bags, wraps or films that cannot go in the recycling container.
Cost & conditions
No charge. The City names local retail stores that collect plastic grocery bags for recycling at no charge.
Arrange it
Sort the film out of the recycling container and take it to a local retail store that collects it, and check the City's listing for the drop-off options it names for clean film.
Plastic bags, wraps and films are refused in the curbside recycling container because they damage the sorting equipment, and a bagged load of recycling ends up at the landfill, so the film has to be separated before anything goes out.
Self haul in Tooele means the county disposal facility and the private drop-off points the City names. Construction and demolition waste, tires, piles of brick, broken concrete, dirt and business waste are all refused at the curb, and the City points those loads to the Tooele County Solid Waste Disposal Facility on 435.843.4785, which also takes green waste for a published per load charge between bulky waste days. Household hazardous waste such as paint, oil, solvents, bug spray, weed killer, batteries, old car parts and fertilizers is refused as well, and the separate information line for it is 435.277.2300. Curbside recycling takes cardboard, paper, bottles and jugs and food and beverage cans, while glass bottles are carried to a drop-off location, plastic bags and film go back to retail stores that collect them, and any metal item that is not a food or beverage can goes to a local scrap metal recycler. Can you pick up bags of junk today?+
Book by 2pm in the pickup address’s local time for same-day pickup. Available dates appear at checkout. Have the booked bags and boxes outside and accessible according to your confirmation. You receive pickup updates and completion photos; the booking is for a day rather than an exact arrival time.
Do I count every object inside a bag or box?+
No. Count the filled bags or boxes using the matching choice. Books and media go in Filled household box; clothes, bedding and shoes go in Bag of clothes & bedding; packed toys have a Box of toys choice. Empty cardboard is separate, with individual empty boxes and bundles of 10 flattened boxes. Heavy, oversized or unusual contents need a photo review before booking.
Can you pick up a small loose pile of household junk?+
Yes. Estimate how many trash bags the small household pile would fill, and bag or box as much as possible. Select furniture and other larger items separately. There is no extra charge just because the pile is loose. Send a photo first if the count or contents are unclear. A household Dumpster Bag choice does not accept construction debris.
Can I book bags, boxes and furniture together?+
Yes. Select the bags and boxes, then add each larger item using its own catalog choice. The booking shows one combined price for the selected items. Move everything to an accessible outdoor spot before pickup; indoor carrying and sorting are not included. Keep anything you want to retain apart from the booked items and identify what goes in your photos and notes.
How should a Tooele garbage container be placed?+
At the edge of the street next to the driveway and opposite the mailbox, clear of driveways and roadways, with the wheels close to the curb or the edge of the road, the lid hinge at the curbside and the lid opening facing the street. Cardboard boxes, office paper, junk mail and magazines, plastic bottles and jugs, and food and beverage cans. Keep the material clean, remove any plastic film from cardboard or newspaper before recycling it, and keep plastic bags, wraps, films and all foam out, because only bottles and jugs are accepted in plastic.Official guidance
Can plastic bags go in Tooele recycling?+
No. Plastic bags, wraps and films cannot go in the curbside recycling container because they bind up the sorting equipment, and bagged recyclables end up at the landfill. When is Tooele bulky waste day?+
It follows the normal pickup day: a Monday route gets the first Thursday of the month, Tuesday the second Thursday, Wednesday the third Thursday, and Thursday or Friday the fourth Thursday. How do I prepare bulky waste in Tooele?+
Bag, bundle or box everything, because the operator loads it by hand and improperly prepared material is not picked up. Boxes have to be thirty gallons or smaller and should stay out of wet weather, limb bundles have to be under eighteen inches in diameter and under five feet long, and nothing may weigh more than seventy five pounds. Appliances are collected at the curb on the monthly Thursday assigned to your route at no additional cost.Official guidance
How does Tooele handle yard waste?+
Bag, bundle or box it and put it out on your monthly bulky waste day, because loose piles are not picked up. A limb over four inches in diameter is the one exception to the bagging rule, bundles have to be under five feet long and under seventy five pounds, and grass clippings should be composted, mulched or put in the container instead. Between pickup days, the county facility takes green waste for a published per load charge.Official guidance

Where does paint and household chemical waste go in Tooele?+
Not in the container and not on the bulky waste pile. The City classifies paints, oil, solvents, bug spray, weed killer, batteries, old car parts and fertilizers as household hazardous waste and refuses them, and it points residents to a separate information line on 435.277.2300 for how they are collected.Official guidance
