$20 per appliance for the curbside collection appointment arranged through the Resource Recovery Division, as published on the local disposal facilities page. Alexandria residents who receive city disposal services and arrange the appointment through Alex311 or 703.746.4311, with refrigerant containing items going to the household hazardous waste and electronics center.

Call Alex311 or 703.746.4311 to make the appointment for the curbside appliance pickup, and take a refrigerator, air conditioner or dehumidifier to the household hazardous waste center at 3224 Colvin Street instead of Reworld.
Get it ready
Empty the unit and secure the doors and drum, keep it out of the trash and recycling carts, and keep a refrigerant unit out of the Reworld load because that facility refuses refrigerators, air conditioners and dehumidifiers.
Trash and recycling go out on the designated Monday through Thursday collection day, no earlier than 5 p.m. the day before and no later than 6 a.m. on the collection day, and from May 1 through September 30 everything has to be out before 6 a.m. because crews start an hour earlier to avoid the heat.
Residents with proof of residency at the scale house may drop small amounts of metal, non-metal items, brush and yard waste once a week up to 500 pounds free of charge at Reworld Alexandria at 5301 Eisenhower Avenue, using the bypass lane on the far right, unloading the vehicle themselves, and keeping household trash, stumps, rocks, dirt, sand, pressurized cylinders and refrigerant appliances out of the load. Contractors are turned away from the residential drop off.
