Mattresses are named on the city's accepted bulk list, and the Recycling Convenience Center on Beery Road also takes mattresses and box springs in its bulk bin. A mattress counts against the five bulk items when it goes out at the curb.
City cost & eligibility
No charge. Included with the residential collection service for a city address that receives Public Works trash collection and reserves the day through ReCollect, limited to five bulk items per reserved day. The city's published residential rate covers the cart and the reserved collections, so a mattress carries no separate per-item charge on the curbside route.
When & how
Reserve through ReCollect by 12 pm on the business day before the regular trash day, then set the mattress behind the curb. The Recycling Convenience Center takes mattresses in its bulk bin Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM and Saturday from 8:00 AM to noon, closed on city holidays.
Get it ready
Set the mattress out on the reserved day only, and keep it with the other reserved items rather than adding it to a pile that was not booked. At the center, handle and unload it yourself into the labeled bulk bin, because the site asks residents to manage their own material.
Bulk and yard debris are collected on the regular trash day, but only after the address books that day through ReCollect. The reservation closes at 12 pm on the business day before the pickup, and one reserved day covers up to five bulk items and ten yard-debris units. An item that was not part of the reservation is not collected, so book the category and the count before anything moves to the curb.
