Lynchburg does not take bulky material with the weekly cart. Bulk runs once a month in the brush and bulk week tied to your trash day, and the city defines it as item of residential waste such as furniture, large totes or similar material that cannot be placed in trash containers.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Included in the residential solid waste service, which is billed at $10 per month on the water utility bill for each City cart at either the 32 gallon or 64 gallon size. The city publishes no separate per item charge for a bulk set out during the monthly brush and bulk week.
When & how
Bulk is collected during your designated brush and bulk week, not on your trash collection day. A Monday trash day puts you in the first full week of the month, Tuesday in the second week, Wednesday in the third week and Thursday in the fourth week. Set out no earlier than 7 a.m. the Saturday before that week and no later than 7 a.m. on its Monday.
Get it ready
Keep brush, bulk and white goods in separate piles at the curb, clear of hydrants, power lines, trees, vehicles, retaining walls and fences, and at least three feet from the trash cart. Bundles of broken down boxes may not exceed fifty pounds and loose trash must be bagged. The city refuses bags, tires, household hazardous waste, construction, demolition and remodeling debris such as carpet, wood and cabinets, and items made of glass or porcelain such as toilets and sinks, and it does not collect landlord set outs, evictions or land clearing debris. Appliances are named as bulk items that leave on the brush and bulk week, and the city asks that white goods be kept out of the brush and bulk pile. A unit that holds refrigerant is the exception: the city sends refrigerators, air conditioners and freezers to the Region 2000 Livestock Road Regional Landfill because the Concord Turnpike Convenience Center will not take Freon items.

An appliance that does not hold refrigerant goes out during your monthly brush and bulk week. A refrigerator, freezer or air conditioner goes to the Livestock Road Regional Landfill at 361 Livestock Road in Rustburg, open Monday to Friday 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday 7 a.m. to noon.

Keep brush, bulk, white goods and tires apart

The city collects each material separately and asks that the piles never be mixed, because a mixed pile is hauled to the landfill. What the curb will not take
