Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

  1. Arrange any unmounting first.

Dropcurb does not remove TVs from walls or do indoor carrying. Arrange the help you need before pickup day, including the trip down interior stairs or through an elevator.

  2. Choose a permitted outdoor spot.

Use a stable, accessible location with a clear path for loading. Keep the TV separate from anything staying. Check building rules before placing it in a shared pickup area.

  3. Show us the TV that is going.

Add a location photo and access notes after booking. Follow the readiness instructions in your confirmation. For exposed broken glass or unusual damage, send a photo and check with us before booking.

Televisions

Special rules apply

Televisions are on the unacceptable list for the chemical and computer events, and the city publishes no television route, so the item has to be confirmed.

City cost & eligibility
The city publishes no television route or fee, and the household chemical and computer recycling events refuse televisions by name, so call Public Works on 757-220-6140 or the Jolly Pond convenience center on 757-565-0971 before moving a screen.
When & how
Ask which route takes a television before it leaves the house, since the event programme will not accept it and the household bulk list does not name screens.
Get it ready
Keep the television out of the garbage cart, because the automated truck only empties the cart, and do not take it to the chemical and computer events, which list televisions as unacceptable.

Televisions, alkaline batteries, medications, explosives and business waste are not accepted there.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Williamsburg keeps most household material in its own curbside programme: a garbage cart on Monday or Tuesday, a blue recycling cart every other week, ten bags or bundles of yard debris on the collection day, and a household bulk appointment for two large items, three times a year. Self haul covers the rest. Capital loads go to the James City County convenience center at 1204 Jolly Pond Road, open every day from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., where city residents pay with coupons bought at the Treasurer's Office or by card on site. Anti-freeze, motor oil, cooking oil and rechargeable batteries go to the Tewning Road center at 117 Tewning Road, open Tuesday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Paint, cleaning solutions and computer equipment go to the household chemical and computer recycling events, and dry latex paint can simply go in the garbage cart. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Williamsburg.

How much does TV removal cost in Williamsburg?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Williamsburg?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Can I take a television to the recycling event?

No. The authority lists televisions among the unacceptable materials for the household chemical and computer recycling events, and the city publishes no other television route, so call Public Works on 757-220-6140 to ask where a screen should go.Official guidance

Who collects trash in Williamsburg?

The city's Public Works department runs the residential programme with its contractors, and it handles the garbage cart, yard debris and the bulk appointments on 757-220-6140. Recycling runs through the regional programme with Republic Services, and the authority answers on 757-259-9850.Official guidance

How much can go out in a bulk collection?

Two large items per collection and three collections a year, booked by noon on the Thursday before the collection day. Mattresses, chairs, refrigerators, sofas and washers or dryers are allowable, while remodeling and building materials, car parts and toilets are refused.Official guidance

What does it cost to use the Jolly Pond center?

The city sells coupon booklets at the Treasurer's Office for $20 for five coupons, and the number of coupons needed depends on the size of the load. A credit or debit card can also be used at the gate, and the center is open every day from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.Official guidance

What can I bring to the chemical and computer events?

Paints, cleaning solutions, kerosene and computer items such as monitors, cell phones and scanners, on the second Saturday of February, April, June, August and October from 8 a.m. to noon at Warhill High School at 4615 Opportunity Way. Televisions, alkaline batteries, medications, explosives and business waste are not accepted.Official guidance
