Major appliances cannot go in the garbage and are recycled at the county transfer station. Small appliances within the operator size and weight limits can go out on pickup or to the operator drop-off center.
City cost & eligibility
From $30 per refrigerant appliance unit recycled at a King County transfer station. Refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, dehumidifiers and heat pumps; no commercial appliances. Small appliances at or under two feet by two feet by two feet and under 60 pounds follow the operator route and are quoted.
When & how
Take a major appliance to the Factoria station during transfer station hours, or call 425.452.4762 to arrange pickup of a small appliance within the operator limits.
Get it ready
Keep the appliance out of the garbage, empty it, and secure the doors for transport. A unit that holds refrigerant is counted and priced as a refrigerant appliance at the station.
Secure the load, because the county adds a fee for an unsecured load, and sort clean wood, scrap metal, cardboard and yard waste before arrival, because the station does not accept them as garbage. Vehicles plus trailers are limited to a combined 40 feet.
Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.

From $40.25 for minimum garbage charge up to 320 pounds at a King County transfer station, with lower minimum rates for separated clean wood and yard waste and a per ton rate above 320 pounds. King County service area residents. Clean wood, scrap metal, cardboard and yard waste must be separated out of garbage, and separated recyclables are taken at no charge.
Arrange it
Drive to 13800 SE 32nd Street in Bellevue during transfer station hours, stop at the scale, and pay by card, cash or Apple Pay. Mattresses, appliances, clean wood and scrap metal are diverted to their own areas.
Open only to customers who live or do business in the King County service area, which excludes Seattle and Milton, and a load must be secured or a fee is added.

Dropcurb picks up appliances that are already disconnected and accessible outside at ground level. Arrange uninstallation, utility disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Use a qualified professional for gas, hardwired or plumbing connections when needed. We handle loading and haul-away from the outdoor pickup spot.
Can I book if the delivery company did not take my old appliance?+
Yes. Dropcurb pickup is separate from buying or installing a replacement, so you can book removal on its own. Select the old appliance, choose a pickup day and arrange for it to be disconnected and accessible outside. If your new delivery is still ahead, confirm the retailer’s haul-away arrangements before booking a separate pickup.
