City cost & eligibility
$37.13 per mattress or box spring on the on-call bulky route under the 2026 rate, after the annual two-item allowance. Maple Valley residential customers of Recology King County, within the two free bulky items a year. The King County transfer stations that take mattresses, futons and box springs for recycling are Bow Lake, Enumclaw, Factoria, Shoreline and Vashon, and their handling fee is separate.

Get it ready
Keep the set dry, because wet mattresses, futons and box springs are refused at the county stations, and set it out only on the scheduled day.
Bulky items are collected only when they have been scheduled with Recology, and they go to the curb by 7 a.m. on the pickup day. Nothing should be placed at the curb before the collection is booked.

Haul the load to the Bow Lake Recycling and Transfer Station
A household that can move its own load, including a mattress, a major appliance, clean wood, scrap metal or sorted garbage.
Cost & conditions
From $40.25 for minimum garbage charge up to 320 pounds at a King County transfer station, with lower minimum rates for separated clean wood and yard waste and a per ton rate above 320 pounds. King County service area residents. Cardboard, yard waste, scrap metal and clean untreated wood must be separated out of garbage, and separated recyclables and clean recyclables are taken at no charge.
Arrange it
Drive to 18800 Orillia Road S in Tukwila during station hours, stop at the scale, and pay by card, cash or Apple Pay. Mattresses, appliances, clean wood and scrap metal are diverted to their own areas.
A load must be secured or a fee is added, vehicles plus trailers are limited to a combined 40 feet, and major appliances and televisions are not accepted for disposal.
